In French, a paddy wagon is known in slang as a... panier à salade.

Quite literally, it means "salad bowl". You know, a container you can toss things into kinda indiscriminately.

Note that the word is used on both sides of the Atlantic. Which is sort of surprising as it sounds like one of those colourful Québécois expressions.

But it's a "France French" term too.

And far more polite than "paddy wagon"!

Yep, Dodge Chargers and now the Ford Taurus Interceptor is slowly replacing the Crown Vics. Minivans are for supervisors and commanders only.
