Unlike the CN underpass replacement on Wharncliffe, this project cannot be delayed too long or else the provincial and federal money approved for it will vanish. I think it has to be fully complete by the end of 2027 if I am not mistaken?

So if 2025 was the projected start date, you could 'safely' delay one year to 2026, assuming its mostly complete by the end of 2026, with wiggle room for delays and finishing touches/top coat of asphalt happening in 2027.

Else we're just flushing away money.

LFP article on the Oxford Wharncliffe intersection.

One can only hope they do acquire the real estate office and old Starbucks properties to widen the intersection for turn lanes and bus pull-outs.

Not much in the way of details about the 2024 road construction season on the City's website.

City council’s Civic Works Committee voted to accept the environmental assessment study for the Hamilton and Gore roundabout. This goes to full council for approval in a couple weeks.

Constructed is expected to begin in 2026.

Long overdue on this. Wonder what impact this current timeline will have on the zoning application proposal for the old bingo building. That has had nothing but crickets now for a few years.

Roundabouts are so fun when you are a pedestrian. You get to dodge traffic twice, and enjoy the scenery as you wait for cars to yield (almost never) on the concrete porkchop that you find yourself marooned upon halfway across the street. Cars don't slow down unless they are yielding to vehicles already in the intersection, and why would they yield to a lowly pedestrian?

It is great how every year, several times a year in fact, the road signs for traffic navigation are knocked down/mangled by cars as they navigate the roundabout during inclement weather, especially when there is snow and ice.

It looks like the Old Starbucks will become the new location for BTRMLK.

The city has released their annual construction map (link below) and "Top 10" projects for 2024.

https://london.ca/sites/default/file...ap_March24.pdf
  1. Adelaide Street North at CPR Underpass
  2. Wellington Gateway Phase 1 / Downtown Loop Phase 3 (Rapid Transit - Wellington from South St to Queens Ave)
  3. Clark's Bridge Widening (Rapid Transit - Wellington over Thames River)
  4. East London Link Phase 3 (Rapid Transit - Dundas from Egerton to McCormicks and Highbury from north of rail overpass to Oxford)
  5. Victoria Bridge Replacement (Ridout over Thames River)
  6. York Street Infrastructure Renewal (Clarence to Colbourne)
  7. Fanshawe Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements
  8. Sunningdale Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvement
  9. Colonel Talbot Road Upgrades (Southdale to James St in Lambeth)
  10. Wellington Gateway Phase 3 and 4 (Rapid Transit - north of Exeter to Wilkins)

Also, these projects are not "Top 10" but I think important...
  • Adelaide St N Road Renewal (from Central to Dundas)
  • Adelaide St S Road Renewal (from south Thames River bridge to Thompson)
  • Adelaide Street Bridge Repairs (over York Street and CN rail)
  • Sanatorium Rd Road Renewal (from Riverside to Oxford)
  • Oxford Street West and Gideon Drive roundabout

These intersections will be getting new traffic signals:
  • Bryon Baseline at Lansing Avenue
  • Longwoods Road at Westdel Bourne

These intersections will be getting new pedestrian traffic signals:
  • Victoria Street at Adelaide Street North
  • Fanshawe Park Road West at Foxwood Avenue
  • Fanshawe Park Road West at Hyde Park Trail
  • Medway Park Drive at Wonderland Road North
  • Morgan Avenue at Wharncliffe Road South
  • Plane Tree Drive at Richmond Street
  • Sunningdale Road East at Canvas Way

These roads will be getting either new or enhanced cycling infrastructure:
  • Central Avenue (Richmond to Adelaide)
  • Clarke Road (connects new Wavell bike lanes to Argyle Mall)
  • Kilally Road (west end of Kilally to Sandford)
  • Riverside Drive (Wilson to Forward)
  • Ridout Street (King to Horton)
  • plus some of the earlier "Top 10" projects is also introducing new cycling infrastructure

Plus many many more construction projects (I can't list them all!)
