Cladding Now Visible

At long last I am able to see some cladding from my apartment in the Civic Center. Though I see only see 1/3 of 181 Fremont it will be a beautiful addition to the skyline. To my eye this is the most tall beautiful building in the city.

181 Fremont and Salesforce the Dynamic Duo of the San Francisco Skyline
Quote:
Unmistakable in their blue construction shrouds, 181 Fremont and the Salesforce Tower have become the dynamic duo of the San Francisco skyline. Rising virtually side by side, the two towers have now poked well above their neighbours, and their distinctive forms are instantly recognizable among the sea of condos and office towers that dominate the local cityscape

View from a Public Sky Garden

When I am in the area I always make a stop at the sky garden at Mission St. and 1st St. It is strange seeing palm trees over the street on 1st St.

181 Fremont St. is my favorite new architecture. I look forward to looking at it from my apartment for many years to come.

A Blue Cover

I see this morning a blue cover on the top of the building. A raincoat?

West Side View From the Civic Center

Two more floors until the west side will be finished up to the mechanical penthouse! Looking good from my apartment.

Will the crown get lit up at night? Not sure if that would look good with this particular building.

I know the resemblance of Salesforce with IFC Hong Kong has been mentioned many times (because it's the same architect). But has anyone noticed that 181 Fremont, the other large tower rising in SF, is strikingly similar to another Hong Kong icon: Bank of China Tower?

It's like a lovely mini Hong Kong skyline forming

Yes--it used to be mentioned somewhat frequently. I agree with you...and thanks!

They appear to have begun cladding work on the crown at long last:

Yes! I thought the same thing, SF is starting to look like a mini Hong Kong from the bay thanks to these two buildings, nothing wrong with that

You should come and try the dum sum. Some of it is straight from Hong Kong.
