Nashville, Tennessee

Having moved back here (thankfully), I've been inspired to capture the transformation this city is undergoing. I've counted 22 tower cranes between downtown and west end Nashville. The most exciting thing isn't the towers going up or the residential boom, it's the street level transformation and the pedestrian experience that's improving for the most part. The charm is still there, but you've got to walk through the construction dust to get to it right now.

Indeed! Not as well represented on here as I'd like, but I do my part.

Welcome back!

We've only been there once but my husband and I have a soft spot for Nashville (especially Monell's in Germantown!). If you don't mind my asking, what are you shooting with nowadays?

Thank you! I'm glad to be back!

I'd be happy to share my setup. Nikon D300, D3200, and the venerable D80 with a wide assortment of lens'. I reserve all my night shots for the D3200. That little body is a BEAST at night! Daytime is a mix between all three depending on what I'm shooting.

I haven't set foot in Nashville in over 12 years, but I have to say I'm curious to see how much it has changed with all the new development

The transformation over the past decade is nothing short of amazing. Whole sections of downtown have been created, rising from the barren asphalt lots that used to ring the small CBD.

Regarding the "different" looks of Nashville, it's always nice to see a photographer avoid the same old shot of the "Batman" building from the Shelby Street bridge and give other angles of the city, and not just because half the downtown skyline is now out of that picture, to the left of the photographer. Lexy has a great eye, and obviously loves his city. Thanks for posting.

Nashville has not gone as tall as her peers, but what she has not attained in sheer nose-bleeding height, she has made up in density and expanding the skyline to the south and west to midtown. There are several proposals that would connect the downtown to midtown skylines in just a few years. Exciting! And just getting started too!

Nashville seems to be nice on street level.
