By the way, there is a sequence of photos at this link that shows very well how those brace arms are attached to tower crane.

This thread in the Engineering section of the forum is also a huge source of information and photos on the subject of tower cranes. One of the people who replied to it is herself a crane operator.

It might be topped out. I'm not sure. It's either on the 22nd or 23rd floor.

They're working on the 21st floor. Still two to go.

Here are some shots of Skyhouse I took this weekend.

The rooftop pool looks nice. See if you can tell what's wrong with the skyline behind it.

Looks like the Spring tower decide to move several blocks northeast.

I saw a scrap of some plan sheets on the ground this weekend next to the site that still had the address for the Atlanta version of the building on it! Probably was the fastest way for a sub-contractor to get some of their work done.

Maybe 'repeated' buildings will be come more common as builders find designs that are fast to build. But I don't know if it's a topic I've heard much about before.

In Tulsa, OK, there is a building that is a 1/4 scale replica of a WTC tower, built decades (I think) ago. That was probably my first exposure to something like that.

Ah... I see what they did. Flipped the skyline view horizontally. So now that puts Skyhouse on the opposite end of downtown, way to the west between Lamar and Mopac. I'm sure the neighborhood associations would be just thrilled about that .

See modified rendering here...

EDIT: even reversed, this still has Spring to the relative north of 360. Perhaps they were trying to outsmart me. OH...and is that a plane crashing to earth behind 360? The pilot must have been just as confused as me right now.

The ladies were more attractive from the other angle.

This baby is topped out now. I imagine they'll be getting to work on the parking garage soon.

Yep, only 1 floor left. Also it took 6 months to build a 23 story building, that I would have to say is impressive.

That's what happens when you have the downtown tower equivalent of suburban tract housing.

It's kind of disappointing when you see the exact same building going up in 5 different locations.

As long as it isn't the "exact same" as another building in Austin, I'm not sure I mind that much. While I would love for every building to stand as an icon for our city, I'm not going to push my luck.

360 is the same way. There are at least two or three other "360 designs" around the country, and I really like 360 Condos. I actually think it's one of our best buildings.

True but ours is the tallest and I think our version looks much sleeker than the 26 floor version so in that respect the 360 is unique.

I don't mind this being the same as other locations. Now if they wanted to put them all over town then I'd have a problem.

I just wish that they would have put the garage under the building so that it was higher and put retail or grocery or other building next to it. Though this design maintains some views for the Milago condos it's a waist of space to have two parking garages next to each other with no retail in either of them.
