The Retail Thread

A thread to discuss retail, it's rumours, and new and/or popular retail outlets.

The number of banks isn't surprising, the closest banks are at Westhills or east of Sarcee, so considering how many thousands of people live in that area they are probably needed.

I suppose. But isn't there already a Scotiabank down the street by the ATB Financial?

They're starting to sprout up about as much as Starbucks Which, I'll be surprised if there is only one in the complex.... and not one inside Safeway, and one standalone.

I just can't wait for Thai Tai. I've been going all the way to Deerfoot Meadows for it!

Are there any maps / overheads of the area showing where everything is going? Because, honestly, it doesn't look like that big of an area to fit all this!

Near the end is a decent overhead, but no sign of tenants. (I guess they weren't finalized by the submission)

Isn't there a Thai Tai on 17th Ave?

There is, I've been to all of them. And that one is known as "the bad Thai Tai" in my books.

I have such high hopes for this one!

Less food, more retail

I think I mentioned this in the main construction thread; Crossiron Mills has at least one tenant with a first week of August opening date. Let the Balzarium arise!

Less clothes, more electronics. I'm tired of going to Deerfoot Meadows. A gun store would be nice too, Wholesale Sports is there too.

By the way... during my search I found that Marble Slab is opening up, too, in both Westhills and Aspen Landing.

That's too bad; I'd rather see the Gelato place succeed. Two ice cream shops is way too many. That puts the Gelato place at risk. I'm not a big fan of the Marble Slab either; just way, way too expensive. What is it now, $6 for a single cone? I could buy a whole gallon of smarties ice cream for that, rather than paying someone to smash smarties into a single cone.

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought. Gelato place won't be around very long.

The magazine store With The Times, displaced from Mission last year due to demolition, will be re-opening next to the Good Earth that is being renovated on 11th Avenue and 15th Street SW. Looks like it will be open soon.

Are you sure you have the right address here? Living a couple blocks away from this, I'm pretty sure that whole area is residential.....

...and the new Good Earth renos look GREAT! I found out that this is now a franchised store; used to be the company flagship.

On a more realistic note, I'm surprised there isn't a high-end outdoors store opening at Aspen Landing. That stuff's big money and there isn't a place I can even think of that caters to that market.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, but that was a good one.

I went to a gun store once.

I actually think Furry would be at home there. All they do is complain about things they don't think are good enough. It had a shooting range inside it too.
