I thought this was approved? I might be wrong, but I didn't think you could get even a shoring permit without having the DP at least approved.

Anyone have any updates on this one? I haven't been to this area in a while. Has digging or pile driving started?

/\It shouldn't be. They have all the office space leased to Shaw, and I thought I had heard sales of their condo units were strong too. The business case for this one to go ahead is strong.

That and it's backed by Asian investors. I think the hold up is more with permits.

Yeah but 49 (or 47 or whatever) floors is pretty darn tall- this will be one of the tallest mixed use buildings in western canada...

The shadowing bylaw has its downside (I will be the first to admit that I would have loved to see a 1000' Bow Tower) but overall Calgary's downtown building height restrictions are among the most permissive in Canada. Compare to Ottawa, or even Vancouver...difficult to impossible to get buildings this height in those cities.

I like to get everybody "Fired Up"! Actually, a 60 story wouldn't look all that bad on that spot. I don't think the shadow would be too awful!

Went taking photos yesterday in the cold with Jimby and part of the hoarding as well as the containers are gone from the site. Have they just returned it back to a parking lot? To me this look done.

I'm hoping this goes ahead but it is a mystery why it hasn't started construction yet.

I am an investor for this development and I just recently got this in the email.

"This is a quick update to all of you, our most valuable existing purchasers.

We regret to inform you of an anticipated delay in the commencement of
construction of 3 Eau Claire.

Please be assured it is just a temporary delay but we want to contact you
immediately to keep you informed.

Our development team is now doing our best to make the delay as short as
possible.

It may take a few months but we will get in touch with you with the revised
project plan and schedule.

Please accept our apology for this unexpected delay and be assured we will
contact you as soon as the revised plan and schedule become firm and
confirm.

We thank you in advance for your understanding, your patience and your
continued enthusiastic support of 3 Eau Clair."

Sounds ominous: "It may take a few months but we will get in touch with you with the revised project plan and schedule."
