Bozzani Motors has been at the NW intersection of Broadway and Sunset for many years and was next door to one of the last remaining adobe houses of Sonoratown that was demolished in the late 50's. The area now is being redeveloped as high rise apartment houses which obstructs the view of Elysian Park from that intersection.

Here is a very early image of a young Tom Mix in 1909.

Located in the Oklahoma Territory, Ranch 101 was the largest in the country at that time.
This is where he honed all his western skills.....roping....shooting. etc.
He was 'discovered' by the Selig-Polyscope Co. when they arrived in the territory to make western movies.

The interesting thing about this postcard is that it was made a year prior to his first movie, -Ranch Life in the Southwest' (1910).

The horse in the Mix three-reeler looks mighty small considering some of the other photos of the Cut.

Whatever it's size, jumping even a smaller gap was probably no small feat!
Interesting article suggests Beale's Cut's depth has varied over the years from '30 (1854) to '90 feet, and in the words of the author (below), "the still photo was doctored." Having never visited the famous cut, I can't say what reaction I might have, disappointment, awe or a little of both.

As most of you already know, the building on the left (with the Temple Baptist Church sign) is the remodeled Auditorium Building.

That is the Warners/Pacific Theatre in hollywood,Sam Cooke had his office for SAR records there(not sure which floor),and right down the hall was Lew Chudd and his Imperial Records home of Ricky Nelson and Fats Dominoe.Ive tried to gain access to the top levels ,and will try again in a few weeks.
