It's taking shape- I think it's going to look pretty cool. Can't wait to see the panels go up!

Amazing design. If the Kings/city ever decide to change their mind (hopefully) and put an observation deck on the roof as originally planned, will the roof still allow it or is it now modified too much?

Any chance Arco/Power Balance/Sleep Train Arena is reused or is it a foregone conclusion it's gone? I sure hope not.

Some positive out-of-town press is always nice on a project of this size.

I read that this is the largest arena development in the country right now. It is already revitalizing a heavily neglected area of downtown, which you can see below.

The skin:

And the rear:

Juxtaposition of old and new:

Really great for Sacramento. So happy that the Kings will finally play in a worthy arena. Now if only the Lakers improved so they can beat the Kings again...

Nice to see a crane on the Sac skyline after a decade of nothing:

This project rising, in front of the arena on J St.:

Interesting context:

My final thoughts:
I'm really liking this design. It is going to look great at night after reading about the plans for the LED lighting, and some of the metal panels are perforated so it will create a really cool glow during events and you can already see the sheen it creates during the day.
I grew up going to concerts and Kings games at Arco arena, which is really an afterthought in design and located in the middle of nowhere (now the area is more developed, but as a child it was kind of the only thing near the airport). This new arena is really a great urban project and will help to revitalize and energize California's oldest city.

Yes, it's nicely integrated with the surrounding buildings. The undulating panels are good, too. Nice job, Sacramento!

The arena of the future

This will be the greenest arena in the country:

• 90% of the vendor food will come from within 150 mile radius of Sacramento.

• 100% solar powered (15% generated by rooftop solar, 85% coming from nearby solar farm)

• Its central location downtown is expected to reduce emissions by 24% from its current location in the outskirts of suburbia.

Let's not forget the old Marshall Hotel, adjacent to the arena, is becoming an 11-story Hyatt Centric. Construction is expected to start this fall.

This little auxiliary building located in the K St. alley is almost done. What is this going to be used for?

This eastern-most side of the arena building will be team offices and other such uses. The L Street side of the east side of the building will be the team's practice courts.
