The walls and ceiling look rather Haussmann-ish to me, It's a great building, regardless.

A building being brick and old does not make it a slum. There are no slums anywhere near these towers.

Slums? No. Buildings with cheap materials and poorly aged designs? You bet.

Also, there is a lot of crap in the vicinity of such a high end place!Do they plan to tear down all of these nasty brick buildings?
I wonder how much it cost to live in these slums according to the prime location?
Much of what you see is the back of buildings which was previously obscured. The fronts on CPS are quite nice.

The brownish brick building on the corner is landmarked. It has a nice design, but is not well maintained, since there are a lot of rent-controlled units in it.

This tower is going to look great. Amazing that it may disappear on the skyline in some areas because of the behemoths rising near it.

This area was never a slum, even in the '70's, being so close to Central Park South. The closest slums were in the Lincoln Center area, and also Hell's Kitchen.

I'll just copy and paste what I wrote a week ago:

Do we even know what the CPS frontage will look like?
