Not really - maybe 5 years ago. Tons of great new bars and restaurants in Bloorcourt / Bloordale. Relatively cheap still too.

I mean more in it's built form. It's mostly 2 story horrible architecture that feels very small town from Dufferin and it gets uglier as you head west until you hit Parkside Drive. The Danforth also has the same feel to it which is why I'm not a fan of that stretch either.

There's something about Danforth that sets it apart from other streets. It feels like it belongs in LA.

I think because it's so wide. It could really use a centre landscaped medium to soften its look.

Wouldn't mind bike lanes on Danforth either. I understand why they would be problematic on Bloor but Danforth is certainly wide enough.

Maybe once Danforth is lined with midrise but, for now, I wouldn't want it to change.

I don't drive often but, when I do, I drive in the right lane on Danforth. Better than any thrill seeking ride at Wonderland. Dos Equis once in a while doesn't hurt either.

That area is easily on par with Montreal as far as grit goes.

It's also one of the coolest areas in Toronto right now. Lots of my fave bars up there and some great quality food.

Eau Du Soleil is going to stand out like a sore thumb in this area, a solid 250ft taller then anything in this neighbourhood. Can't wait to see it go up.

Sore thumb if it were ugly or if the whole are wasn't high rises on the beach. It's going to create a nice peak for that area.

When Toronto gets to 20 built over 200 meters there should be some celebration. It was only 12 years ago that the tally was only at 7. Calgary is just a couple away from where Toronto was in just 2003 when you think about it.

That seems so unbelievable . . . but true .

Been a great 12 years, that's for sure.

Toronto will blow past 20 buildings over 200m in the next few years. TO is currently at 15 towers BUILT over 200m.

BUILT

1. First Canadian Place (298m)
2. Trump (277m)
3. Scotia Plaza (275m)
4. Aura (273m)
5. TD Canada Trust Tower (261m)
6. Commerce Court West (239m)
7. ICE East (234m)
8. TD Tower (223m)
9. Bay Adelaide West (218m)
10. Shangri-La (214m)
11. Ritz Carlton (208m)
12. Bay Wellington Tower (207m)
13. L Tower (205m)
14. Four Seasons Hotel (204m)
15. ICE West (202m)

9 of these 15 were built in the last 6 years.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION:

One Bloor (257m)
Harbour Plaza Residences (232m)
Eau Du Soleil (228m)
Harbour Plaza Residences (224m)
Ten York (224m)
Massey Tower (207m)
Residences Of 488 University
88 Scott (204m)

This will take the number to 23 towers which exceed 200m in Toronto. Not bad at all.

Plus dozens of others in the proposed stages as well. Some of the ones which stand high chance of starting construction in the next 5 years include: Signature Tower 1, Signature Tower 2, 45 Bay, The One, and with less likelihood but still possible include 1 Eglinton East, 1 Yonge project, and the Mirvish towers.

Nobody spoke of 200 metres 10 years ago. 500 feet or 150 metres was all the rage.

10 years ago today we had 14 over 150 metres. Now, it's 42. And, these investor marketed towers are still selling like hotcakes.
