I think this is something we need to see more of. The business model for the other big operators of retirement/LTC/assisted living facilities seems to be to build them off major roadways on the edges of the city.
The idea is that you don't want or need any other businesses, amenities, etc. nearby, because everything will be done through Revera or whoever the operator is. Everything is either offered in the centre, or run as "outings".
It's basically the cruise line model: Everything is a revenue source. Anything not on the boat is a paid "excursion" with money going back to the operator.
I think we want to see lots more retirement options in existing, mature, central neighbourhoods. It's better for seniors and it's better for the city as a whole.
