You don't have to, but in order to get action on some of these ideas CAP would be better suited to help locate funding and actually develop the project.

The City itself is traditionally too mired in the day-to-day aspects of planning and zoning that while they do have big plans they lack the resources to do many capital improvements immediately or directly. CAP, however, is designed specifically to advance projects like this. A downtown development authority, if you will, with the ability to raise funds, purchase land, etc.

I have always dreamed that Coca Cola would build a 2000 foot tall replica of the coke bottle, also a 1500 ft or so building in the shape of the letter A over the connector.

Just simply repave the seemingly war torn surface streets and synch the traffic signals.

what about filling the SoNo district with new towers and retail and change the name to Midhattan District with a time square area. Also build the world's largest statue and but it right there by the the connector and let it cross to the other side.

I HATE that...why can't Atlanta be unique and have it's own thing, and not try to mimic others. That only makes people rather live in that origin city.

We are unique and what did we do to try to mimic others?

Manhattan is one of the most known districts in the world. So I don't like the idea of Midhattan. Same goes with Chicago's Magnificent Mile, why try and have Midtown Mile. If anything, don't name it something so similar, which makes it obvious of trying to mimic another city's theme/idea. Just my opinion.

I'm not saying the Midhattan district/neighborhood name should gain traction. I just admire the image irony of such a brainfart. Why so serious? Trollish poster such as BigATL and myself are in here to stimulate conversation.

The Midtown Kilometer?

I didn't know that Chicago had a patent on the word "mile". Midtown Mile is catchy and fits Atlanta.
