That's funny but expected when you have 3 continuos city blocks all under construction at the same time.

SoBro Apartments 33 stories/345 ft

With construction site fencing going up, we are only a few days away from listing this as under construction....

...33 stories, 345 ft tall....

I don't see anything taller being started before this is finished.

Atlanta, Nashville, Raleigh, Charlotte all have nice projects either UC or planned. Durham has a new tallest planned. Greensboro has new hotels, even Greenville SC has some nice projects going on. I'd like to see Asheville, Birmingham, Mobile get more going too.

Could not agree more re: Asheville, Birmingham and Mobile.

I think the NIMBY's in Asheville will stop anything major, unfortunately. My bet is on BHM for the next tall out of this group.

I know nothing about what's going on in Mobile, or if there is even a market there for vertical growth.

As far as Atlanta goes, we have three 20+ story buildings underway now, but there are a ton of proposals. Some people are getting a little antsy for more to break ground, like yesterday.

Everything under construction here right now is in the 5-7 story range Definitely some good infill, but nothing you'd notice driving by on the interstate.

For whatever reason, this has been a quiet summer... hoping that changes soon.

Atlanta, Charlotte and Nashville are all killing it right now.

I really just realized this, but I think the tallest U/C in Alabama right now is probably the Embassy Suites in Tuscaloosa. I think it's 8 floors?

Lord... that condo in Birmingham really needs to get going...

As of this morning, 300 South Tryon just become the tallest under-construction skyscraper in North Carolina. It is the first office tower to break ground in Charlotte since the recession hit.

While they're not quite under construction just yet, Orange Beach condo towers Ascension (469') and Grace (449') will be some of the tallest buildings in Alabama.

Do we have numbers on the height? Is 300 South Tryon to be taller? In terms of floor count 225 South Church wins. I'm curious.

Actually, assuming everything gets approved (which it's closed to being), Alabama's 2nd and 4th tallest buildings will soon be under construction in Orange Beach.

Source: AL.com

Ascencion will be 469 ft and Grace will be 449 ft. Unusually tall for beach towns along the Gulf.

Once completed, they should be the tallest condo towers directly on the Gulf Coast.

And of course, Birmingham is still waiting on the apartment building on Highland Ave. Should be starting soon.

The tallest under construction in Miami is the Panorama Tower. It is 868 ft tall or 264.6 meters tall. It has 83 stories and will be the tallest residential tower south of New York when completed.
