Still 50% more capacity than was previously there. It's a "wide" 3 lanes, so I think if necessary it could be 4 lanes.

Yes that is what the COE has planned in the future.

What irks me is it has been almost a full week now with the the surface of the bridge littered with ruts from dirt making it a really unpleasant drive. Are they just going to wait for it to rain?? Seriously its pretty clear the dirt is from their own construction site, why not clean it a little??

gotta love those galvanized sheet metal shrouds...

on the other hand, you do have to love those stainless steel handrails when they're new and polished.

Yeah saw this today. It was a little rough. COE should put a couple street cleaners on the job!! New bridge...and the road surface looks like no one gives a shit!

Can't wait to go over this bridge this weekend. I may bring our bicycles and ride around the river valley with my kids.

As a motorcyclist too, I'm glad this bridge was built. I went over a steel grated bridge once on a motorcycle and swore I'd never do it again.

It's actually the contractor who's responsible for cleaning the road.

It's almost as if one of the two bridges is a ~50m (15 stories) drop with a long history of suicides and suicide attempts and the other is about a 10m drop, ie: the same as jumping from the board at the Kinsmen just down the road.

Sooooo....put the barriers up on the high level. Then move the problem down to the next bridge or building etc.

If a structure is to stop jumpers was the solution....why dont we have suicide barriers on anything with substantial height. Or maybe the potential of jumping into any body of water with a current from any height might still actually cause death. No roll eyes.

This is a mental health problem.

I was through town last week and got to go over it also. Such an improvement! Curious about the awkward jog at the north end. I'm guessing there's still some work there to finish off?

Last section is being moved today. Both cranes are shifting it south.

Just making a wild guess here: once the project is completed next year they do a grand opening celebration, and the lights will be unveiled then.

I saw an article in the Journal last week that they were starting to test bridge lighting. Has anyone seen evidence of this yet?
