Has the design changed (in appearance) for the residential building's podium? I came across this pic/model:

http://www.altusinsite.com/index.php...11=&pagenum=14

It seems to be current, with three floors of office and only the ground floor for retail. But it's missing the wood panels, which were supposed to bring a cohesiveness to the entire development.

That's definitely a new render, which (as you pointed out) explains the changes we are seeing in the actual construction compared to the former most-recent renders.

Also, I believe the paneling you are referring to was actually onyx, not wood. Personally, I am pleased to see they have dropped that element of the design, as long as it has been dropped on the Georgia base as well.

Sweet - nice find!
That's the first we've seen of it.

I was concerned that the south facing facets would be solid surface to block the sun.
Good to see that the facets are glass on both sides.

I also note that the onyx has disappeared.
It was a transition from ground to the warm wood of the east condo tower façade.
I wonder if the condo tower will stick out / be mismatched?
OR - looking at the new pic - have the condo fins changed to fritted glass?

Does that mean the onyx is also gone from the office tower podium too, since they were matching?

The podium overall looks more sterile (due to a lack of colour) than before
(aside from whether or not the orange onyx would have become quickly dated).

Compare:

Current:
Have the condo fins changed to fritted glass?
And looks like a double skin on the podium's south facade.

WOW - thanks - the wood is gone from the condo tower (but there's still onyx at the office tower?)

That second rendering has a funky institutional look to it.

Think the buyers will be pissed?

I was thinking that too - like 700 West 8th.

Also Henriquez and Westbank:

I'll be disappointed if the colour has been lost from the tower. I felt that was the best part of the whole project.

Ya, I wonder why they would've taken out the wood?

Would they have needed the city to approve these changes? It looks totally different.

Sad, another watered down project. I feel bad for those paying for something high end and then getting this mediocrity.

Developer should've stayed with the 3-level retail podium and kept the wood and onyx.

Someone reads the forum -

Full condo tower render from Changing City Updates.

I would call it stunningly bland - or as bland as a ventilation grille.

I hope the two video screens are still part of the project on the older building (the southwest corner).

The project does look a little watered down, but I will hold judgement until I see full coloured renderings of the tower.

Even so, it doesnt look as bad as some are making it seem on here.

+1.

I was certainly also looking for some colour here.
