^^^ ^^ Cool.

^ Well, the figures Tom had seem to be outdated. BVic I think stated earlier we were looking at a couple added office floors but also some height shaved off a Mezz. level............so that 750'ish figure would at least seem to be fairly reasonable.......a question I have though would be where that is measured from....Plaza? Lake St? Riverbank? Or Is it CCD??

Measurement would come from the level along the river where the conference rooms are, just like 300 N. LaSalle and Trump.

10/21/14. Sunken barge looks a little worse off than it has recently.

The site was all lit up this morning; likely to make visible all the river obstructions. I don't believe they start work until 7am at the earliest.

Trains and cranes..

^ The site wasn't active this morning, but since you live across the tracks, I'll take your word for it! I stand corrected.

I'm sure they take breaks. Sometimes when I leave for work in the mornings I see workers standing around talking---shift change maybe?-- But they do work all night...something about working around the train schedules for safety reasons.

I believe it was Bvic who broke the possible news of an additional floor but 800 feet was the result of speculation

^^ Maybe they should just sink it completely.....the river's first reef??
Some sort of tie-in to Chicago's environmental chops in the 21st century.....

How not to load a barge.

I noticed this a long time ago but forgot to mention it here - they removed all of the light poles and signage on Randolph street next to the site. My assumption is that they'll be unloading trucks from there since access from ground level is pretty difficult. Should be fun to watch.

As for the barge - they were pumping out water this afternoon and it was starting to rise. Both sides were well out of the water now with just the middle part still submerged - but much less than before.

Access from ground level is pretty easy. They just go through the metra tunnel on canal and Fulton. That's the tunnel that was built for the river point building.

the street access point to this area is on lake street...that's the entrance for the workers.

It's easy if you are walking or driving a car. Getting hundreds of 18 wheelers and cement trucks down a 1-lane side street with no room to turnaround is not easy. All of the trucks that access the site either come in backwards or leave backwards - which requires someone to spot each one of them. Clearly this is not going to work for any large concrete pours or large deliveries of steel.

Don't know bout the 18 wheelers yet but the cement trucks I've seen come down the tunnel forward dump the load turn around and leave forward. It's a big site but I do see the larger deliveries come in on barges.

The bulb tee's will be brought in on barges and a big crane will be brought in to install them.

For the mat pour I'm wondering if they'll utilize concrete pumps from Randolph and Lake?

Makes a decent river garbage collector, I guess.
