Thanks to everyone who helped to identify the car at First and Figueroa. I'm still curious about Barbara Ann's "Double Flavor Bread".

Does anyone know what - Buy The Light Running Domestic - means?
After a quick Google, it looks like "The Light Running Domestic" was a sewing machine. There doesn't seem to be any connection with Los Angeles, but you can read about the company's history here.

I'm guessing this is a music teacher (black dress, sitting at right) posing with her students.

I'm still almost certain I posted about this bombing earlier on NLA. If someone finds my older posts..I'm sure they'll let me know.

Looks like the artist took some liberties.

Scene of the Raymond car bombing. "This photo was taken on the morning of January 14, shortly after Harry Raymond stepped on the starter of his car and set off the planted bomb that blew out the sides of his garage and sent hundreds of pieces of metal tearing into his body." This excerpt taken from the caption that appeared with this photo in the L.A. Herald Examiner.

LAPL
Here is the "hideout" house from which a group of mystery men assertively spied on Raymond's home from last September until three days after the bombing. Neighbors identified Kynette and some of his officers as the men who occupied the house. From the window indicated by an arrow a clear view of the Raymond home could be had. Photo date: January 20, 1938.

Closeup view of the damage to Harry Raymond's auto, caused by the bombing. Anybody able to identify the car?

This is dated 1948, but no location.
It looks to me like the building on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Doheny.

In keeping with the Hollywood Hotel and Highland Avenue color photos posted recently, I don't find that these have been previously seen on NLA.

In the bottom left corner of the above photo is a place called Toff's.
It was still there in 1977:

That ghost of a staircase on the wall of the sporting goods store is intriguing. Does anyone know what building was there?

That staircase caught my eye as well. I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
So the staircase was sandwiched between the two buildings, right?
It's like a shadow x-ray thingy...

It's part of the original two-tier parking structure at the Parker Center. There's no date with the picture, but I'd guess at mid-50s - there was an extra building on the single-story portion of the parking lot (nearest the camera) by 1962.

I had to see what that truck looked like when it got darker . The blog post dates it at 1934.

That hilltop Victorian at the NE corner of 1st & Figueroa always intrigued me (upper right of the first pic, upper center of the first). I always thought it fronted onto Flower, which was why it seems hidden by the other houses, but the aerial clearly shows that my perception of the distance between Flower & Figueroa was way off. I also always thought it was one main floor, but the aerial shows it was a two-story house. Anybody have any other info/closer photos of the house? I've got another version of the first photo in the quote with an interesting annotation in the upper right corner, reading "Korean Society Site (Chang Ho House)". Wonder if it can provide any clues for anyone who might know:

Sorry guys, sometimes I forget that good old Google can do the trick. Lol. Apparently the house was the home of Dosan Ahn Chang Ho and family, "an activist and prominent leader of the Korean resistance movements (1905-1945) as well as a leader in the Korean-American community. Numerous memorials have been built in his honor, including statues in Dosan Memorial Park in Seoul and Riverside, California. In Los Angeles, there is Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Post Office in Koreatown and Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Square, at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Van Buren Place." -LAPL

A picture of Dosan Ahn Chang Ho standing on the front porch of the home in question, whose address was apparently 106 N. Figueroa:
