December 8, 2016
Quote:
Who would have guessed the a dead end street named Purves would be the hottest development block in Long Island City. Now the 550-foot-long stretch is welcoming its tallest and best designed building yet at 42-28 Purves Street. Penned by the award-winning architecture practice, FXFOWLE, the 266,000 square-foot building will accommodate 270 market-rate apartments with enviable views of the Manhattan skyline and Queens. The 33-story, 374-foot tall tower topped off in September and completion is expected in fall 2017.

Any chance of that copper-y cladding ever going up, or was that the ol' bait and switch?

They better be quick with it if they do. This building should be done by fall.

But I think it's just the current color. Any sort of corner or side facade work should of been done a while ago.

Teaser Site: The Forge

Long Island City's FXFOWLE-designed rental, The Forge, launches leasing from $2,485

Quote:
Long Island City’s new 38-story luxury rental building, The Forge, has launched leasing on its 272 apartments. The FXFOWLE-designed building, located at 44-28 Purves Street, offers a mix of studios, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, and just like anything with “luxury” in its description, they don’t come cheap.

Rent prices within the Brause Realty and Gotham Organization development project begin at $2,485/month for a studio and only get pricier from there. One-bedroom apartments go from $3,030/month while two-bedrooms start renting at $4,150/month.

Since the building is striving for LEED Silver certification, both apartments and common spaces have been furnished with eco-conscious finishings that include energy-conserving windows, solar panels, and an irrigation system that captures rainwater and reuses it to water the landscaped green spaces.

There aren’t a ton of renderings that reveal the actual apartments themselves, but according to an official press release, the apartments boast “Feng Shui-certified layouts” with oak floors, open kitchens with energy efficient KitchenAid and Bosch appliances, custom-tiled bathrooms, ample storage space, and individual washer/dryers in each home.

Luxury building packed with amenities opens in LIC

Quote:
Apartments are now available in a 38-story luxury building in the Court Square section of Long Island City.

The building, called ‘The Forge“, is located across the street from the SculptureCenter at 44-28 Purves Street and consists of 272 luxury apartments. The developers, Brause Realty Inc. and the Gotham Organization, have started leasing the units.

The building offers its residents a host of amenities including a 50-foot outdoor pool, a rooftop sky lounge and a movie screen. The units come with Feng Shui-certified layouts and feature oak floors, quartz countertops, stainless steel KitchenAid and Bosch appliances, bathrooms with custom penny tile, large closet and storage space and Bosch washer/dryers.

Studio apartments in the Forge have a starting price of $2,485, with one-bedrooms at $3,030 and two-bedrooms at $4,150.

“We are thrilled to launch leasing for this distinguished rental building that offers a new take on urban living within a growing neighborhood five minutes from Midtown Manhattan,” said David Brause, president of Brause Realty, in a statement. “Over the years, Long Island City has transformed from a historically industrial neighborhood into a cultural enclave filled with galleries, museums and artisanal restaurants. It is the perfect community for those looking to move from the bustle and expense of city life.”
