I'm so happy this project is done and overall it is fantastic. One thing though – the way they used the wood railing posts at the entrances looks really bad when you see the whole thing in person. Everything is steel except those two wood parts, and it just looks unfinished and awkward. A bizarre choice.

Trying to post a link to Riel Committee meeting Jan 14. A cool proposal for 60 unit building attached to the old normal school on Masson st. Actually has support of the locals. Old st. B is really starting to get traction imo

Originally they had it double the height but it was NIMBY’s down to the current proposal.

demolish permit of 836/840/842 Taché Avenue has been rejected because no building permit applied for yet. what an eyesore these buildings are. can't believe people are actually in support of this stuff

- There wasn’t a common vision for what should be on the site.
- The overwhelming response from the community was that they wanted to see a plan.

Nice to see that Masson idea, but yikes – almost the entire main floor is parking. Looks like the whole first storey will just be blank walls and fake windows.

Definitely sucks the first floor is all parking. But it kind of fits with the existing building and looks like a basement level of older buildings with the raised first floor.

Sometimes a bit more contrast between the old and new is a good thing.

This project isn't terrible, but there isn't much to get excited about either. I give it a 'meh'.

Agreed. Fills a hole and adds residents. They can't all be award winning architectural wonders. I suppose.

I'm personally more excited about the project next to garage cafe on provencher (174 I believe). Theres a couple other places near there that could handle some bigger towers but the main focus should be creating a nice street wall

^I am also looking forward to the Provencher development. I think someone, likely Biff, mentioned the height is increasing to 6 storeys from what was shown in the renders.

What excites me is the residential densification that is starting to explode in old st.B. Two projects currently underway north of Provencher and now Masson and Provencher by le Garage. I hear there may be others as well.

I won't be satisfied until 825 gets built. Not because I really like it but mostly because it would send a strong message

yup. court of queens bench. a bigger issue might be the marketability of this project, and Railside projects, given the high volume of petroleum products moving over that mainline.
