Isn't the ARC or the FTA or some agency pretty important supposed to be announcing the final route pretty soon?

I'm wondering the same thing, Fiorenza. I do think with that kind of connectivity there would be a good chance of getting an appreciable amount of people out of their cars.

I think some of the projects would and some probably wouldn't. Major job centers like Perimeter, Cumberland and Clifton Corridor where commuting is a hassle might see some shifts in how people commute. Some of the crosstown suburban bus routes seem a bit ludicrous. Are there really enough people traveling from Newnan to McDonough to support a bus route? I don't really understand the expressway bus projects either. The stuff GRTA is running now is fine. I don't know why you'd have buses from the southside going around I-285 when people could just as easily get on MARTA or Light Rail and take it through the city to get up to Cumberland/Perimeter.

Well, another thing you have to wonder about is if Palin and her people take over in a couple of years are they going to pull back all this stuff Obama is doing for the Beltline. Back to drill, baby, drill and so forth, who knows?

Cybele if you think Sara Palin has a snowballs chance in hell of running, let along, becoming president - then you and this country will be forever a cesspool of discontent and upheaval...

Well, I would say it comes down to who is he and what is he for and against. The working man has been hit hard as usual. They said a police in New York City can retire at 40 and get $107,000 a year plus medical and then go get another big job and another pension. All that has to come from guess who.

Beltline Lantern Parade

I'm so bummed I have to miss this! 8:30pm on Saturday the 26th meet where the beltline crosses Irwin (right by the Ice Box building). Bring your coleman lantern for a walk from there up to Park Tavern.

So is this new Eastside Trail just going to follow the tracks from Piedmont Park to Freedom Park?
