The Calgary skyline is so much bigger and thicker now. It really capitalized on the oil boom while it lasted.

Way more impressive than I ever imagined, both the skyline and the urban vibe. Good show! Thanks.

Yeah, it's gonna be amazing in a couple years once Telus Sky and Brookfield Place are dominating the skyline! We still have 35 towers under construction, not to mention an unprecedented amount of infill. I would say the city is just capitalizing on being a great place to live now that people know it's not just "the oil capital". Even with the oil crash, our metropolitan area growth was nearly 50 000 again this year We've seen a basically a total halt in construction of office towers this year, though residential has really picked up the slack. This isn't the first crash, and certainly won't be the last.

and thanks guys! Glad you liked the pics!

I've never been to Cowtown - there, I said it! I feel such shame...

BTW, is Stephen a successful street or is it more like Sparks?

Stephen Avenue is consistently the busiest street for pedestrian activity in the downtown core, so I would definitely call it successful. It is also a national historic site of Canada and contains Western Canada's largest museum and art collection within the Glenbow, along with several galleries and theatres, city hall, Olympic Plaza, as well as many restaurants and nightlife hotspots. It's a pretty cool street, everyone who's visited that I brought there really liked it.
