Okotoks would be great for hosting foreign dignitaries on account of its number of things to do.

Barring that, I third Rousseau's butt.
This is honestly the only choice that actually might have some real world rationale and feasibility at this point in our country's history. It'd turn the National Capital Region's other city from a junior partner and suburb into a peer, and serve as a symbolic gesture to French Canada of equal partnership. It would be a move to cement national unity. It also wouldn't really be that radical a move because, of course, Gatineau is already the seat of one quarter of the federal government. Making it co-capital could also potentially help with downtown revitalization efforts in Gatineau.

Too environmentally sensitive according to those who hate pipelines and tankers.

The federal government and its grand plans is arguably one of the reasons why Gatineau's downtown is so fucked up today, so...

No. They were built when I was a kid and living in the Maritimes. But I do know my local history!

I've always assumed that the area was a scenic delight, akin to the "vibrant community" in Lebreton Flats that was razed a few years earlier.

Not nearly a delight, but perhaps a bit like Lower Town in Ottawa.

Tuktoyaktuk.

Or North Battleford.

These are extremely obvious choices, I would think.

Maple Creek. It would be the temperate winter capital. MPs would have to leave at the start of the torrid summer season in late February.

I wouldn't mind St. John's being a national capital again.

But if it's a serious question, then rotate the ceremonial capital among the province's and territories in sequence.
