I know some people disliked the base of owt, comparing it to a bunker of sorts, but i think it turned out pretty great, during day and night time. as for the spire, though i am disappointed that the original was not implemented, the chance for it to be changed is possible in the future. as for the current spire, i have to say, that the lighting is awesome. it almost seems like each lighting section of the spire is like a flame, leading to the pinnacle; reminds me of the Olympic flame. during the day its a different story, love/hate, love that it resembles the rest of new york's industrial skyline of the past, hate that it doesn't quite compliment the rest of the tower's newness. one thing is for sure, the spire, or spired buildings, are new york's skyline trademark. sorry for the ramble, high off of my weekend visit.

Very nice. When the observation deck opens, this area will be very crowded. I don't think it's large enough to contain the overflow.

As far as the lighting of the base goes, it's a little better from a distance, problem being, it won't be visible at a distance from many places.

6. I'm sure the Freedom Tower will be added to the New York Pass. Good deals, but good luck trying to visit all of those places.

Emergency situation developing at the tower where a scaffolding is left dangling precariously with workers possibly on it.

apparently they have been rescued:

Quote:
Rescuers cut the glass near the scaffolding so they could pluck the workers from the basket and pull them inside to safety, according to officials at the scene. The building’s windows near the workers do not open.

What overflow? The queue will be underground.

I like how they felt the need to include this bit. As if any modern skyscraper's windows opened.

It looks like one side of the basket descended while the other remained fixed. Could be a jammed cable. Hopefully the impact to the building was minimal. I hope they ordered a few extra windows.

Why doesn't this state-of-the-art tower use automatic window washing systems? Let me guess... The money sucking unions are against it?

Ladies and gents, the safest office building in the world..... Was just there yesterday and was right underneath the building while they were cleaning the windows. I was saying to myself is that thing really safe hanging off the side of the building. Glad the window washers are ok.

Doesn't matter. It's the same with the Empire State (they moved the queue up). Only a certain amount of people will be allowed in at a time.
As a result, there are times when there are large lines/crowds outside the building. It will be the same here, with massive busloads of tourists
being dumped on the area. There is a limited amount of elevators to take people up and down from the decks.

The media over-exaggerated it as they always do. You could clearly tell the cable didn't actually snap. It simply got lose.

How are they going to replace the glass that was broken? Can't replace the whole frame, are they designed to replace individual panes of glass?

Easy...they will just put some newspaper over the hole and call it a day.
