I mean, the Thompson is being built on a 0.66 acre lot; this is going to be five full acres.

I feel like if the Thompson can be squeezed into two-thirds of an acre, Silver can indeed do something spectacular with a lot almost ten times as big.

Exactly. And the Canopy. That is much smaller! FYI, the hole at the Canopy site is HUGE!

Zoning and location make a big difference between those projects and this one.

This will likely have one ground floor restaurant and maybe a second retail space in the base of office and residential, be designed in the mold of nearby residential developments (if a bit more upscale looking befitting the "gateway to Southtown/King William" monicker), and that's it.

Agreed, plus look at the developers who bought the property. I think we can be optimistic about this one.

Yeah, Silver Ventures is going to make this an amazing development. I wonder what the owner of Battalion is going to do.

Andrew Goodman knew about this for almost a year I heard from a friend who knows him. As soon as I get any inside info on it I will let you all know. My friend is the same person who is trying to get the giant ferris wheel passed.

I just can't wait until that ugly Federal building and courthouse are torn town. I would love to see increased connectivity from Lavaca to Hemisfair through that space occupied by the two structures.

I completely disagree that they are ugly, I hope they are preserved. Especially the courthouse. I think they are both beautiful examples of 60's formalist architecture. The Federal building borders on Brutalism but I think it is still a highly interesting structure. They should both be saved and rehabilitated, and be built around, not torn down. It's rare to see such solid and monumental construction these days. We should do our best to preserve and celebrate our diverse architectural history.

If they can extend the building to street level that would be better or maybe a plaza connecting to the Indianola intersection with Cesar.

The Feds have made no plans to move out of the office building, and who knows when the new federal courthouse will be built. I suggest you develop some coping strategies if you really "can't wait" for them to be gone or repurposed, because all you can do is wait.

Also both those structures are cool and should stay.

Does anyone know what happened to this project?

https://therivardreport.com/commissi...-retail-space/

Though, in all honesty, something more substantial should be built in this prime spot, especially nearby the Westin.

Someone could contact Hixon properties, even though they couldn't be reached two years ago in the article.

It did. That's what the article states, which is more so curious.

Edit: my mistake, this particular article doesn't state that, but it did get final approval.

The zoning commissioner uses a gmail address? 🙄

This must be what they talk about when they say "San Antonio is unique."

This is embarrassing. What is the difference between this and a mile long neighborhood - has anyone seen Prue Rd or the Dominion area? It's horrible. But that's life. People got to live places.

Just another thing for morons that have no better things to do with their lives other than to b**** & complain. They don't care about San Antonio's future they only care about themselves.
