It would have been better had they placed the camera positions at THF up in the east side stands. The west side stand would make a far better backdrop as it looks fairly impressive, whereas the east stand looks sort of like Molson Stadium... a bit underwhelming.

Is it safe to say that the entire thing will be open for the game against Sask?

Don't get me wrong, I love IGF as it is a great venue, but it's hard not to be a little envious of Sask's palace... it is really going to be something else. Hopefully the team will have the good sense to steer clear of the stupid unrealistic promises regarding timelines that have been made in other cities.

Levi's stadium is an example of a facility where the lack of symmetry was purely a design decision and not a financial one, and I think it looks awesome. I also think THF is pretty nice, although it's clear the one side had to be pared down for financial reasons.

I agree that symmetry, in the true sense of the word, is boring.
Depends, IGF looks great i can name about 15 NFL stadiums that look awesome as well. but i see where you guys are comming from

At the risk of sounding like a broken record - they couldn't have built the east stands any higher to put the camera poistions up there

Really now... you would think that if any city in this entire country could get a nice new rink and stadium built, it's Calgary.

There were lots of rumours before the flood, but it's been very quite since. My guess is that they’ve had to do some rethinking and replanning. They also had to sink a bunch of money into the Saddledome for repairs, so that might be a factor as well.

Personally I have a lot of confidence in the Regina project team. Let's face it, there are basically going to be 200,000 project managers paying attention to every detail of that thing. I don't expect corners to be cut. And I'm pretty sure Sask has learned the folly of making unrealistic promises as to deadlines and then winding up with egg all over your face.

Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun says that Toronto should have stadium envy (or "jealously" (sic), as the Sun puts it):
