Let's hope that's a good sign.

I live near the Park & Ride at Apache/McClintock and they had a sidewalk tunnel there for months while they constructed the garage and mixed use building there.

They just removed the tunnel actually. Let's hope the one you saw is for a consideralbe amount of work at the site.

In looking at the Luhr's site, the main tower would be especially bad ass if bigger. It's a very nice building now, I just think it'd be cool to have another larger one, lol.

I wasn't worried about offending you. It was the rest of the forum.

Just a really bad "split it" sexual reference.

Looks like all the new windows are now installed. Looks so much nicer than the plywood.

Luhrs Building redevelopment completed

Phoenix ( December 22, 2009 ) The Luhrs Building, an 80,000-sq.-ft. retail and office space in downtown Phoenix, has been gutted and renovated, according to redeveloper Hansji Urban.

A division of Hansji Hotels of Irvine, Calif., Hansji Urban purchased the entire city block and has invested more than $8 million to restore the Luhrs Building and the Luhrs Tower with the goal of re-energizing the block while maintaining the architectural and historical importance and integrity.

Luhrs, the city’s first two skyscrapers, are established on the Phoenix Historic Property Register. Opened in 1924 as the tallest building in Arizona, the Luhrs Building also represents the first major commercial office in Phoenix. The Luhrs Tower opened a few doors west in 1930 and became the state’s tallest high-rise.

Luhrs City Center will complement RED Development’s CityScape (across Jefferson) and together will add vibrancy and buzz to the downtown Phoenix market.

I think I heard there was a law firm on the top floor. Anyone know if this is true or if others are moving in? Sure would be nice to eventually get someone in the ground level again!!!

Secretly Vicelord and I have been collaborating on a law firm together, called Burns Vandercook Law Offices, PLLC. We are taking that top floor, and our practice areas will be in personal injury and needlessly needling internet posters.

As per GLYNNJAMIN

Pie Zano's from Town & Country will be moving to the Luhr's Tower along Jefferson. They will be closing their original location. This is the first new tenant we have heard about in the Luhr's I believe.

I heard about that PieZanos thing the other day. Apparently the location at T&C is going to become a pizza and mozzerella bar.

Pretty awesome news!

When was the last time a tenant (other then a convenience store) occupied space in the ground floor of Luhrs?

I would never go so far as to call it one of my favorites, but I do like the concept which is basically Subway/Blimpie for pizza.
