HUNTS POINT MURALS Drake Street, south of Spofford Avenue, the Bronx. It’s a bit of a hike from the No. 6 subway line to an industrial patch where tractor-trailers outnumber cars, but worth the trip. Here you will find a stretch of wall more than 200 feet long that has become an ever-changing canvas for many of the city’s most respected muralists and street painters. The site is overseen by TATS Cru, a group of veteran Bronx artists who were asked by the owner of a warehouse along Drake Street to, in essence, recruit good artists to keep the bad artists (or just scribbling vandals) at bay. The results, in a neighborhood that has become a wonderland of high-quality murals in recent years, are a visual feast.
