The news out of the Fed today could be a positive indicator fo r the financing of projects like OCS and 1000M.

Indeed, timing couldn't have been better too

That's good news, I remember reading both were supposed to start in January and at least OCS was financed already. If I'm not mistaken that is...

Hopefully there's still enough demand for one of the supertalls

Also, anyone know when the Union Station Tower would potentially start?

Just received word that the 30-story tower adjacent to Reid Murdoch is still very much alive. Height has not changed. 520 hotel keys. Le Meridien and Marriott AC are the brands. The riverfront construction market is HOT!

Curbed article from 2016 about this thing: https://chicago.curbed.com/2016/4/14...-north-chicago

Talk about squeezing one into a tight space! This will have the added benefit of blocking views of that atrocious AMLI building just to the north.

How “alive”? That seems to have gone silent for years.

Any info regarding dates or financing that you can share?

Also, I wonder if this renewed momentum has anything to do with the planned Salesforce tower nearby?

It can and usually does take years for hotel projects to get going after they've been announced, so this one is really nothing new; not sure why you'd assume it was not moving forward..it's probably been a financing issue, among many other potential variables. Regardless, I'm glad it's moving forward.

Here is one of the last articles on this, for reference/if anyone forgot - I believe the PD was approved in August of 2016(?):

I think Friedman focused on building the Moxy first. Now that it's open, I assume the RM tower is their next hospitality project in line.

There was one, back in 2004-2005ish, located where the current upscale Gwen Hotel is located, on N. Michigan Ave. I can't remember why Le Meridien closed..

We used to have one. The Thompson Hotel at Bellevue & State was a Le Meridian at one point in it's history. The property has actually been several different hotels.

That design seemed so half-baked that I can only assume those guys got their zoning, tore everything down to cut their tax burden, and are waiting for better organized (and funded) developer to buy the site?

I never realized it before, but the Reid Murdoch building isn't actually square, it's a bizarre rhomboid shape...

Also the rear rooms in this proposal will have sick views to the East straight down Carrol to the Trump Tower. They will actually be suspended over the ROW.

We'll know the Reid Murdoch project is a go once the Rug Company starts its "store closing/moving" clearance sale.

It also isn't balanced from the river perspective. The left side has one fewer set of windows than the right (I heard they cut part of the building off to widen LaSalle).

This has ruined the building for me as it sends my OCD racing every time I walk past.
