1118 Chestnut Street, which has been approved, could bring a new Trader Joe's to Chestnut Street!

It's just a rumor and probably just high hopes from people in the area since the one on 22nd is a traffic jam of hipsters trying to butt in front of you to get hummus like there aren't 20 more bins on the shelf. I wouldn't mind another one but I think it might be too close to their other location. If they do go in there I hope they continue to look at other locations to add to their footprint in the area.

Things are changing quickly at Penn's new college house site - 34th and Chestnut.
Fence up, Woodland Walk section closed, trees coming down...

I had actually hoped they would be able to keep more of those trees and keep the walk open during construction. (I'll take a diagonal path where I can get it!) Guess not...oh well.

I'm just glad to see that it's finally underway. They've been talking about this, and the new neuroscience building, for YEARS.

For the first time in history, Penn actually has to keep up with DREXEL when it comes to development of its campus and University City. Not that I'm complaining. There's a tremendous amount of synergy and critical mass that's developing among Penn, Drexel, CHOP, and the Science Center, which is taking University City--and by extension western Center City--to a whole new level.

Sunset on the Schuylkill Banks Bridge by the dog park. Given what they've done with the other new HUP buildings so far, I can only imagine how snazzy the Jordan Medicine Education Center will look on the inside once it's finished.
