I tend to turn the volume off as well when I watch those Fox "Rebuilding Freedom" videos. The rest of the world knows how biased and psychotic Right-wing American Journalists sound. Fox has been trying to get a cable news channel in Canada for a while and no one here wants it. This is how Canadians perceive and parody Nancy Grace-style interviews:

Kathy Jones and her character called Betty Hope based on Nancy Grace, on a show called "This hour has 22 minutes".

Let me voice one concern I have about the FT: some of the shots of the site, that include the Goldman Sach's building in the view, are very, VERY glassy, sleek, shiny... to the point of seeming very generic. The original towers were maligned for being too "minimalist," but the fact was their detailing was very distinctive - they had a facade all their own, with ribs that began in an almost gothic-way at the base and articulated the entire facade. You could take a close-up picture of any part of the towers, and instantly recognize those distinctive ribs.

On the other hand, the FT may have a distinctive base - it was forced on Childs by security considerations - but the rest of the outer facade is really very generic. Are we going to end up with a WTC site that is just too bland?

My problem with Fox News is their tabloid format - for example, Fox & Friends in the morning is dumbed down to the point of confirming liberals' worst (self-projecting) caricature of conservatives. I wish Fox would do a more sane version of Morning Joe, hosted by somebody like Paul Gigot of the Wall Street Journal.

I guess NY Guy is taking a breather, huh? I honestly thought the last 30 or so posts would have been deleted by now

And now seriously - let's drop the politics crap. I come here to get away from politics; I get enough high blood pressure reading the political blogs.
I hate Keith Olbermann...

You know, all the things Obama has adopted as his own policy, except done more extremely (like: proposing to hold terrorists even AFTER a federal court finds them innocent) and with far less competence (I could post some choice quotes from CNN fan Leon Panetta and court jester Clapper, but we've had enuff humor for one morning).

Don, the last thing you told me to shut up for wasn't even a comment posted by me.

And by the way... feel free to go have oral congress with yourself.

Well, you kept the conversation going, didn't you? A lack of critical thinking skills is a typical conservative pitfall. You're a piece of work.

Stop flattering yourself for your supposedly superior intellect, Don.

ANYWAY,

Has the FT surpassed 7WTC in terms of height yet? We seem to be teeter-tottering on the brink of that milestone in the last few photos...

I'm a bit surprised we managed to go for this long a stretch without arguing politics in this thread.

Any new pics of the FT? I'm really anxious to see it begin to cast a shadow over 7 WTC...

Well, we thank you for not doing so.

C'mon guys, let's stop this crap.

This is going to be an incredible "forest" of glass towers when all are complete. I think the area is going to be pretty amazing. How about nighttime lighting? Any ideas on what will look cool on the new towers?

Can't stand conservative thought. Innovation in urban and transport issues and conservative thought are mutually exclusive. If it were up to the republicans, we'd all drive SUV's around bland suburbs toting guns. But I came from Europe, so I'm biased. I saw how the 'sane' live. That is, investment in our country, not wars and missiles and billion dollar carriers. We are no the police of the world. So much for exptionalism in America, when our roads are falling apart and our railways look like something out of Iran. It's fine, republicans love clogged highways, they can sit in them for all I care.

Could someone who lives close to the World Trade Center site take a picture of Ground Zero from above, such as from the Millennium Hotel, 7 World Trade Center etc...

I just want to see the progress from above, since the image from wtc.com was blurry and low-res.

8 years of childish, fiscally irresponsible, deregulated conservatism and the second worst economic downturn of all time will do that to you from time to time.

I'm fortunate enough to live in a region where the steriotypical, sheltered, self righteous southern American culture is often laughed at and parodied. I share your take on the 'sane' way of living, where America isn't (and shouldnt be in the first place) the policemen of the world. That's classic conservative imperialism. America needs to be much more like Europe in how it values internal investment; infrastructure, education, and health care (minus the socialism, of course). And this is coming from a moderate republican.

Sooooo... yeeeeea... what floor is one world trade up to now?
