This was taken on the 3rd floor of the parking garage under Effort Square across from Landmark Place.
When I stayed at the Crowne Plaza I had easy access to the parking garage.

I'm pleasantly surprised the thread wasn't polluted by even one Toronto shot! No offence to TO, great skyline, but it's nice to have something for the other Ontario cities.

Here are a few Ottawa shots, all of them from random places on the internet;

This one is often used by the Ottawa Citizen, likely taken from the Sir John A. Parkway, looking towards the east.

Place de Ville, the black towers behind the hotel with a saucer and white hotel directly behind the tallest building were the first ones to pierce the height restrictions (twice the height of the old 150 foot limit, completed in 1967). The hotel with the saucer was the tallest when completed in 71', soon beaten in 72' by today's tallest which is the tallest one on the photograph.

This is one of my favourite shots of Ottawa taken from Hull.

Nice Hammer shots. There are even some modest skyscraper canyons!

Modest is a good descriptor. King St. between James and Bay is probably the most "canyon-esque", but James St. just south of King is a modest one and stretches of Main St. as well... lots of empty lots on both, that will hopefully be developed into something at some point (if the Hamilton Grand and the Connaught condo developments move ahead Main will definitely become more fully-fledged )

I can see why it's used. I've never seen downtown Ottawa from that angle but it's a good one.

Nice pics of The Sault.

It looks like it has a nice waterfront - are there a lot of activities that go on down there during the warmer months?

My grandparents used to drive through between Windsor and the family cottage (which was on a lake north of Thessalon, off Hwy 129). The times I went with them we split the trip and spent the night at a motel on 17 East, but I never had the chance to explore town. I just have some mental images of the drive to the bridge.

They extended the waterfront trail to the old Hospitals now so a lot of it has been improved in the last 3 years. The area by the gold glass building (our city hall) used to be an area for ships to unload freight so there used to be piles of lime and coke and iron ore there and just to the right of the condo's in the last pic is vacant land that is owned by Suncor that used to house oil and gas storage tanks. The city is trying to buy back the property for future development but in the mean time they ordered Suncor to clean up the property.

There are a fair bit of events that go on downtown mostly at Clergue Park which is the park between our two biggest buildings and at The Roberta Bondar Pavilion white is the white tent structure. Mostly music events but the Rotary Fair has a setup with lots of stuff for the family and there are some stuff for the kids every now and then there. Also there is a farmers market by the tent from May to October which we be moved to the St. Mary's Paper site once it's done construction.

My experience passing through that city was back in the early 1980s. I imagine so much has changed, not just the buildings and parks along the waterfront.

At the time I remember hearing about local events on an AM top-40 radio station - one of the few we could get at the cottage. Driving through The Sault felt a bit like Hamilton (my hometown), not just because of Algoma Steel but also the older homes in some neighbourhoods and a few one-way streets.

I really need to get back up there. It's been far too long.

Looking nice!
As for SSM, I feel like the city needs to renovate (at least repaint) those few tall apartments to make the city look more attractive.
