It's very cool and appealing that the new hotel at FiveFive Queen will be a Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Will have great visibility as a Hilton branded hotel.

Understood, but Hilton Tapestry is a collection of "boutique" hotels. Maybe they want to keep their association with a national chain low key.........

By far the sexiest building in Moncton. You’re growing up little brother!

Do you know if this is the full signage or will something be added?

This is the signage approved by PAC & city council:

There is approval for signs on the crest of the building advertising the hotel name, and the rooftop terrace.

Obviously Fenix was replaced with Canvas, but I think the rooftop bar is still called "Top Deck".

Checked the site, all hotel names are different and Hilton does not seem to appear anywhere on the facade.

I think it should at least have the word hotel somewhere.

It seems like the sort of brand you only seek out if you know about it. It's not the type of hotel you pull in after a long day on the road and want to find a bed to lay your head on.

The people who go there will know it's a hotel. For the rest of us peons, it's jut a place.

Yeah good point. Probably all booked on line anyway. It just looks kind of bland to me.

According to Google stats, 99.99% of the Moncton IP addresses searched the words 'canvas in moncton'. The 0.01% came from non searches within SSP.

Should this project be moved to "completed", then?

Getting close. The hotel isn't actually open yet, and the rooftop bar isn't complete. The signage on the crown of the building is also absent.

Reposted from the [Moncton] Downtown thread.

Website is quite informative and includes some photos.

They refer to the Gahan House as their in house restaurant. They also mention a lobby "grab 'n go cafe" for breakfast items and sandwiches, which will transition into a bar in the evenings. There will also be five on site conference rooms. No mention on the website yet about the rooftop bar, but that won't be open until next summer anyway.

Thank you for re-posting!

To learn more about the various Hilton brands (or at least what Hilton wants to tell you) go to this page: https://hiltonhonors3.hilton.com/en/...nds/index.html

If you look at the logos arrayed across the bottom, they have split out the extended stay brands (Homewood Suites, Home2 and Hilton Grand Vacations). The rest are in order of luxury to more budget from left to right.

Canopy, Curio and Tapestry are all "soft" brands aimed at people who don't want to stay at a standard room in a standard building that looks the same as thousands of other standard rooms in similar properties. The property is still part of the loyalty program and the main booking sites. However, each property is different from the rest and there are fewer brand standards.

Thanks for your contribution.

We already have a Hampton Inn on the TCH at Mapleton on the edge of town. They are in the process of building a Hilton Garden Inn on Highfield, only a half block from our new arena (the Avenir Centre), and a Home 2 Suites by Hilton is planned for the new Junction Urban Village development, also close to the Avenir Centre. The Tapestry Canvas Hotel only adds to the growing stable of Hilton branded hotels in Greater Moncton.

I was at the Hampton Inn on the highway last summer. Room could have used some updating but it was a fine stay. My early teens son was really happy with their comfort food/sports restaurant pick of Sports Rock.

Moncton is doing quite well with Hilton. By way of comparison, Winnipeg just recently hit four Hilton properties.

Murphy Hospitality Group (Gahan House) will be managing the "grab and go cafe" in the Canvas Hotel lobby.

I found this job advert on Indeed.com:

Bar55 Beer + Coffee brings a specialty coffee and craft beer experience to Moncton, New Brunswick. Located in the main level of the FiveFive Hotel, Bar55 Beer + Coffee will offer a variety of locally roasted coffee – from across Eastern Canada. We focus on what makes each variety special, offering pulled espresso shots to slow bar methods and everything in between, whichever you prefer. Our bar will also offer a tap selection of rotating craft beers, brewed locally. So, whichever you feel like sipping on, we have you covered. Cheers!
I wonder if Murphy Hospitality will also ultimately look after the rooftop bar at the Tapestry Hotel when it opens next year. I would think it likely.........
