  • Dulles will soon have a Metrorail connection to DC. The first phase is under construction now
Also, Denver has a connection to DIA under construction now. I think Dallas has one planned, if not yet under construction.

Denver will soon have a rail connection to DIA.
Yes, Dallas will be connect via the Orange Line and Fort Worth will be connected via commuter rail to its northeast suburbs.

Logan has heavy rail (blue line via a shuttle that takes you to each terminal) and BRT (silver line which stops at all terminals)

Providence airport is getting commuter rail soon (will be the most direct heavy rail/amtrak/commuter link in the country)

Here's the trip that will be.

A short leg of a new Orange line that will probably never see the light of day.

I wonder if that light industrial district immediately to the east could get redeveloped as a TOD.

And yeah, it seems like there's room next to Gov. Center metrorail for a Tri-Rail station-actually was there ever a station there before? It's too coincidental that an abandoned rail track just ends in a large parking lot with a shape that looks a lot like an old school train station's footprint....

Yes there was the FEC railroad station just north of the Dade county courthouse downtown as seen in this pic:

Is this the parking lot you are talking about?
Praha I'm not in Miami so I haven't been able to get any pics yet.Hopefully some of the other Miami forumers will come through soon.

One of the arguments in getting this done was where to terminate the line. The final result is at an intermodal center across from the airport with a connection via a people mover type system. This would be similar to Newark and JFK I suppose, but not nearly as long of a ride.

So which airports have stations within the airport or terminal itself? O'Hare does.
Portland's is.

Midway is a cover walk-way to the terminal.

Also, the South Shore interurban line stops directly next to the South Bend Indiana's airport's terminal.

Say what you will about MARTA but they were a pioneer in the US. Hartsfield has had an Airport subway station since 1988.

posted these on "City Compilation" thread a while back! We are 14 months from opening Miami's Intermodal Center in April of 2012.

^ looks to be on the top level of the Intermodal Center, love the jellybean shape of the station!

^ Tri-Rail /Amtrak track terminus can be seen at the lower left.

PS: what does this have to do about MARTA? this is a thread about Miami's Metrorail expansion and it's $2 billion dollar Intermodal station.

Yes, it will eventually to growth more. I think there is something else. MDTA will decide to whether starts constructions second phase II to east-west corridor right after Intermodel will be completely sometimes in early 2012. It will take a while unless MDTA will have an approved to starts constructions the phase II extensions the east-west corridors to FIU West.

The elevation of the miami railway station looks good. But the cost of the railway construction will be very high???? think so......

Right. End of line. You have to get off the trains and wait for next trains back to north.
