It looks absolutely monstrous from the rear, completely overwhelming the very fine Victorian era homes located across the way. They are already in complete shadow most of the day, and the tower portion of the building hasn't even emerged above the garage. If height is you only criteria, I guess it is possible to justify this monster, but considering how sterile and mediocre all the other new glass box construction has been downtown, I just can't get very enthused about this carbuncle of a building. Actually a carbuncle stacked on top of another carbuncle stacked on top of another carbuncle, if the renderings are to be believed.

For a tower of this height, I too, agree that its design is rather boring/cheap. But, I disagree that each level is filled with puss.

Yes, I googled some images of carbuncles after I posted. I may have over-stated my case.

I'm not even angry that you don't like this building. I'm angry that you made me Google that word.

I know this guy is about to get slenderer, but right now it looks like Sears or the OG WTC construction photos.

The podium is close to being completed. It's 12-stories, and from the NW corner it looks like they are working on the floor of level 12.

Will the shorter tower crane be dismantled after the podium is done? It doesn’t appear to have a collar for jumping.

I would say yes. A tower crane used just for podium construction seems to be a relatively common practice.

The shorter 2nd crane is permitted to a height of 925’. So I’m not sure it will be coming down. https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external...0642180&row=76

That’s the taller crane. Note where it says the crane is on the curb of Guadalupe.

It looks like they are finishing the podium and starting to build the tower.

According to the elevations, there is one more floor (the one they are starting on) then the roof of the podium.

Largest for sure, but not tallest.

That podium went up pretty fast. And that's the part that usually takes the longest. This is gonna be rising in the skyline in no time.

I was thinking that also when I drove by recently. It seemed to rise quickly given its size. Very excited to see the rest go up.
