I was on the NY SSP and I saw this rendering

It reminded me of the other design for the CITC

The first image was actually from 2007, so it was before the CITC, around when around Comcast 1 was topping out.

I hated that version of the comcast tower, not a fan.

Anyhow, I think I see crane pieces today in the webcam, there yellowish and lattice. Surely its that or maybe something else. It may be a crawler type of crane.

I would pretty much guarantee that the powers that be in connection with this project are not aware that FMC even exists.

This project is ahead of schedule.

Although I do feel it is a cool design, I prefer the one under construction much more.

Yep. Would be great to see a 2017 finish. Maybe in time for the December holidays.

I keep thinking of the possibility of the Democratic Convention in Philly in the summer of 2016, with national and international media coverage focussed on the city, and towers and other projects under construction everywhere you look (assuming that several more of the anticipated projects break ground in 2015 or even early 2016). It really would portray Philly to the country and the world as a city on the rise, both literally and figuratively.

Agreed. I really hope we land it. New York is so tired and repetitious for these conventions and similar functions. It monopolized the Democratic Convention from the 1970s to the early 1990s, and the last Republican National Convention in New York was in 2004 (I know, I know...De Blasio wants it in Brooklyn, so arguably different. But meh). The last Democratic Convention in Philly was in the 1940s. Granted, Columbus has never held one (Democrat or Republican). But it is Philly's time to shine.

Especially with the GOP convention already in Ohio, PA's status as much more of a swing state than NY, and a Democratic governor and mayor (presumably) with a visibly strong and growing Philly as a backdrop. Not to mention that the Clintons (assuming that she's the nominee) have a historically strong relationship with Philly (Mayor Nutter endorsed her over Obama in the 2008 primary, Ed Rendell's constant support, etc.). And of course, there's the historic and symbolic meaning of Philly and its landmarks.

But we'll probably never regain the convention glory of 1948. All THREE presidential nominating conventions (Progressive Party and Henry Wallace) were held in Philly that year!

And yes, all of this WILL be on the final exam.

What holds that vertical rebar in place (before the form walls and concrete is poured)? Like in the above picture.... Do they drill small circular holes into the newly poured pad/foundation and stick them down?

They tie into rebar stubs that were left above the top of the concrete when they poured it (you can see the stubs on the left side of the last photo above). They literally tie into them, using wire to tie it all together:

http://www.wikihow.com/Tie-Rebar

They can also use some kind of coupling system to attached the vertical rebar to the stubs. But in any event, the vertical rebar is attached to the vertical stubs left exposed from the last pour.
