HANOI | Lotte Center Hanoi | 640 FT / 195 M | 65 FLOORS

Hanoi considering 65-storey skyscraper
17:01' 19/03/2007 (GMT+7)

VietNamNet Bridge – The Capital Architecture and Planning Board has listened to Coralis Vietnam’s presentation about the project on a 65-storey skyscraper in Hanoi, called Hanoi City Complex.

The Luxembourg-based company plans to set up the highest building in
Hanoi, Hanoi City Complex, which will comprise offices, apartments, a shopping centre, supermarket, cinema, health care centre and car park. The complex is expected to be located at the corner of Lieu Giai and Dao Tan streets in Ba Dinh district in Hanoi. It would cover an area of 14,094 sq m, and 195 m high (65 storeys). The total investment capital is $114.6mil.

The complex would be completed after three years of construction and inaugurated before 2010.

Coralis and architects from the US-based Callison designed the complex, trying to create a building with modern design which is charming and attracts Hanoians in particular and Vietnamese people in general.

Members of the Capital Architecture and Planning Board have applauded the design and proposal for the work.

It's got a nice look to it. Like a sculpture. As buildings should be. Unfortunately I feel most American buildings are built strictly for financial reasons. Not all.

Rather nice. A bit broad, imo, but could be real interesting if I could see more detail.

The front facade reminds of the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami (can't remember the real name of the actual building though)

This building will be a force on the Hanoi skyline. A monster tower looming over the city.

I like this one. A lot. I don't love it but it's nice. And the space being saves is nice too.

Is this a "green" skyscraper?

I think it is...just read what the architect firm has written:

The 65-story Landmark is Hanoi’s first truly self-sufficient live, work and play destination, centrally located in the city’s embassy district. In an effort to attract international companies and travelers to the country’s growing economy, the high-rise features the latest in sustainable design solutions and modern conveniences. The tower’s design maximizes energy efficient principles to respond to the city’s intense year-round climate and a six-story stacked sky garden offers an urban respite with expansive territorial and river views.

Sky gardens hardly ever turn into a reality.
But the idea is appealing.
