A new behemoth of a building on 57th Street will top out in less than two weeks and will ultimately be one of Manhattan’s largest rental buildings. Alexander Durst — son of Douglas Durst, who is developing One World Trade Center — is the developer of the 43-story building at 625 West 57th Street, which will house 709 apartments. The courtyard inside the building is supposed to look like a miniature version of Central Park, according to the Daily News. Residents will also be able to use a massive indoor swimming pool, a basketball court, a golf simulator and a 25,000-square-foot indoor park, according to the Daily News. Durst told the newspaper he expects pricing to be at $90 per square foot for apartments on the higher floors of the structure, which is located between 11th Avenue and the West Side Highway. Danish architect Bjarke Ingels designed the building. The 800,000-square-foot development will predominantly have studios and one-bedroom apartments. At night it has the appearance of a large cruise ship docked along the river.

That's the rental rate. $90 x sq ft. / 12 gives you the monthly rent, e.g., for a 700 sq. ft. apartment, it's ($90 x 700)/12 = $5,250 per month.

Of course. Who wouldn't want to live a 15 minute walk from the nearest subway line?

^ No need to walk. You can take the bus, then transfer to the subway.

True but those crosstown buses are painfully slow.

The building next door runs a shuttle to Columbus Circle every 15 minutes. I would assume since it's the same developer you'd get the same deal here.

That said, there is *nothing* food or entertainment wise within 4 blocks of this area. Not sure who wants to live here. The whole Riverside Dr area of this part of town has a total lack of walkability.

I guess there is a club in the neighboring tower?

I thought this tower was getting shops and drining on the first floor? If so then this building alone will change the whole walkability aspect of the area.

Even if it didn't, those things tend to follow wherever people go. But people will live pretty much anywhere in New York. If there are vacancies available, someone's moving in, regardless of everything else.

But you can take a crosstown bus if its raining or its cold; and the animals will love it if you do.
