Detroit's skyline is very often shown from Windsor which certainly makes since because it shows most of downtown's substantial skyscrapers. But because of the position of the RenCen and the orientation of the central urban core being a backward t shape and with the CBD having a different orientation to the street pattern it's hard to capture the true size and scope of downtown. Downriver near the Ambassador Bridge or the New Center Area and East Jefferson/Lafayette Park areas from several floors up are quality spots and of course there are always good spots that require "private access".

This time lapsed shot looking down East Jefferson with the bridge in the background during twilight almost makes me hear the jazz. It looks like this shot is from several years ago the top of the RenCen doesn't have its LED lights, the David Stott is also missing its crown lights but thats an even newer development. Speaking of crown lights i have a couple questions for any Detroiter's first off has Ally Detroit Center's roof top been light i know they had been planning some lighting and signage also it looks like this pic was taken from near East Grand Blvd. does anyone have an idea of where it might have been taken from?

The new Red Wings Arena and the District Detroit are really gonna make a world of difference in connecting Midtown with Downtown. More infill is also planned to start work soon on the other side of Woodward in Brush Park. This is along side the renovations of the Ransom Gillis House and other Victorian era mansions that have already taken place. I'm very excited to see the skyline with a redeveloped/Redeveloping Cass Corridor and Brush Park in the foreground this time next year.

Can you spot the Philly Skyline from 60 miles out? (courtesy PhillySkyline.com) Taken from the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower up on Mount Penn in Reading, PA.

Vancouver's skyline from certain angles is ridiculous...you'd think it was one of the largest western cities in the world.
