Council is going to wave development fees in core areas of the city to see if it can help spur new investment.

^^^. It's about time, they should have done this years ago! Hopefully it works and we can stop the exodus from the central part of the city.

Very happy to read in today's Windsor Star that developers are now considering building in the DT because of this, even one already has plans for a multi unit proposal on ouellette near Erie St.
This could be the start of the city's core areas to finally get some investment!

Annnnnd The Loop project has run out of steam before it even started. Remember all the hullabaloo with this guy and red tape from the city and this big emergency meeting with the mayor..

Glad I didn't hold my breath.

Pretty disappointing but not unexpected. He says he's still looking at renovating that site, but not right away. Also, they say he's looking at buying two more properties in the area, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Somehow I'm not excited about this guy buying up two more properties if all he's doing it sitting on them and blowing hot air out his ass.

Why is Windsor so broken no one even wants to buy property and invest?

This guy's turning into another Farhi....

Not a construction-related post, but I hope everyone on here from Windsor made out ok with the big rain this week. The pics of the flooding along the east riverside and Tecumseh were quite a sight... I can only imagine what many basements looked like.

I had grandparents that lived in that area who had suffered flooding a few times (a few interesting family tales to show for it). It's quite probable whoever owns that house today has suffered it as well.

At my house we were ok and we're in Old Riverside on Prado. We had a little bit of water, like 2 cups that kind of seeped out of the bottom of one wall and that's it. I have a cousin who lives maybe 10 blocks down and she got about 6" of water in the basement.

More about the Toronto developer Tam renovating the top floors of his three Chatham St. properties into what sounds like higher end student housing. The old Loop building is the only one that hasn't started its conversion yet.

Finally some renderings of the Walker Power Building restoration in Olde Walkerville.

Windsor's new city hall is coming along nicely and ahead of schedule as well.

I work off of an iPad, and don't know how to post pictures unfortunately.

I was wondering when Starbucks would open up in Olde Walkerville, I like the location they're choosing.

Ughh. Read the comments of the Windsor Star articles. Windsorites are so negative bout everything good happening here. Anyway, here is a live camera feed of it being built: http://chcamera.citywindsor.ca:44456/image/cityhall.cam

I think it's because a lot of Windsorites didn't think building a new city hall was a good idea right now, or needed for that matter.

Yeah, some Windsorites are the worst and complain about everything!
We obviously needed a new city hall, the old one is full of asbestos is obsolete and is embarrassing for a city this large!
I have a perfect view of the new city hall from my condo's terrace, it's been interesting to watch go up, and it will improve my view immensely!
