America has plenty I'd assume but the land is so large and expansive that it's harder to seek out and spot than a geographically compact island and area like England.

That photo is too much by the way. Classic.

I wonder what they do to their signs now, they have to be getting stolen or someone at least trying on a weekly basis.

There was a town on the last page that at least put them in stone.

My favorite town names are Blieblerville, TX and Cut and Shoot, TX; along with Toad Suck, AR.

Another one that amuses me when I visited was Future City, IL which basically is just some trailer homes and such. And theres a ghost town in California called Condemned Bar.

For me, one of my favorite city names is Lutetia, Paris' old name before they changed it.
It's even funnier because New York was previously New Amsterdam.

Also, Top Gear's favorite British town.

Not a town but a street.

" Gropecunt Lane "

Quote:
... was a street name found in English towns and cities during the Middle Ages, believed to be a reference to the prostitution centred on those areas; it was normal practice for a medieval street name to reflect the street's function or the economic activity taking place within it. Gropecunt, the earliest known use of which is in about 1230, appears to have been derived as a compound of the words grope and cunt. Streets with that name were often in the busiest parts of medieval towns and cities, and at least one appears to have been an important thoroughfare.

Although the name was once common throughout England, changes in attitude resulted in its replacement by more innocuous versions such as Grape Lane. A variation of Gropecunt was last recorded as a street name in 1561.

Show Low, Arizona has a cool story behind the name:

Quote:
According to the legend, the city's unusual name[4][5] resulted from a marathon poker game between Corydon E. Cooley and Marion Clark. The two men decided there was not enough room for both of them in their settlement. The two men agreed to let a game of cards decide who was to move. According to the tale, Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs (the lowest possible card) and replied, "Show low it is."[6] The stakes were a 100,000-acre (400 km2) ranch. Show Low's main street is named "Deuce of Clubs" in remembrance
