This is due to be finished in 2014, so they must be already part way up. Does anyone know what stage construction is at? Pictures anyone?

This building, if it is real and gets built is so refreshing. I love new design and this one is eye catching and looks quite functional with those sky gardens.

Question

Should this thread now be under Supertall Construction? Or are they still site prepping?

Thanks for the update Scalziand. That was a well put together time lapse video. Hopefully they are adding to this video so we can see the whole building go up!

A very interesting building.....I'm on the fence of whether I like it or not. On one hand, it's a unique looking design that looks good the more you look at the details, but at first glance it just doesn't look good. It looks like it's broken or something. I think a building's first glance impression is important.

I'm interested in the form of architecture and it's reflection of the country's culture and identity. Does this form of building truly reflect the country it is in?

^does any modern building? Modernism only derives from two countries that Courbousier and early modernists visited for their acetic, functional tradition - Morocco and Japan. It's known as the International style for it's use across the world, but is aesthetically ahistorical for all but those two countries.

500 year old buildings:

Well, sure. Modern buildings that aren't modernist might reflect local culture and architectural traditions. And in fact many do, and more should.

(That's not to say that the design for this particular building isn't the bomb. I'd love to see some new updates on it, by the way.)

Does anyone have updates or recent pictures of this project?

This is perhaps my favorite building under construction anywhere. Love the design.

I was fortunate enough to be in Bangkok for a work trip last week, and on my one free day, I walked a couple of miles in 100-sh degree heat to get a closer look at this beauty. So worth it! Enjoy. :-)
