There's a very quickly growing and affluent South Asian population in Philadelphia's suburban counties, particularly Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties.

Most work in tech or pharma and many have moved from North Jersey and New York City. The big banks in NYC have been moving tech workers to Delaware for years now, and the trend seems to have accelerated in recent years.

There are some (newly built) suburban neighborhoods in these areas where 50+% of the families are Indian.

Why forget Philadelphia? I'm hearing lately that Philadelphia has the largest Cambodian population in America, even higher than Long Beach, since it seems like the Cambodians in Long Beach are moving to the suburbs while the Cambodians here in Philly are growing. Either way, it would be very interesting once the 2020 Census estimates starts to come later this year.

Not completely true. There are millions of Bengalis in Kolkata (West Bengal Province).

Many of the Indians I know (in NYC) are indeed Indians of Bengali descent and speak Bengali as their primary language (English secondary, Hindi third).

Edit: i could only find numbers of Middle Eastern-born population for my city (Stockholm). Not a huge amount of South and Eastern Asians living here.

Its a thread about US cities, but i will post some numbers of Sweden as a whole for comparison, with middle eastern excluded:

Afghanistan-born: 60 858
Thailand: 44 339
India: 42 790
China: 36 023
Pakistan: 21 172
Bangladesh: 12 279
South Korea: 11 779

These main-groups make up around 2% of the countries full population.

For LA, it’s pretty cool that Nigerians cracked the top 5 and that Filipinos continue to immigrate in solid numbers, meaning they aren’t a legacy ethnic group. My Uber driver from a few weeks ago was from the Philippines.

...And nowhere else in the US, I believe. And interestingly, Nigerians are the most numerous of African immigrants to the US.

I thought I read somewhere that there are only 2 African enclaves in the US; Los Angeles' Little Ethiopia and NYC's Little Senegal.

There are a bunch of African enclaves in NYC, and in neighboring parts of Jersey.

Le Petit Senegal is a few blocks in Harlem, but isn't even particularly African at this point. But it's a prominent cluster of restaurants.

But the Central Bronx along the Concourse, is easily the most African (sub-Saharan African) corridor in the U.S. Probably 15x as many restaurants as in Harlem at this point. The Africans that used to dominate West Harlem are now in the Bronx, and newcomers over the past 40 years headed straight to the Bronx. Just take the D train way uptown, and it will
be obvious, given the language and attire.

There are also enclaves in parts of Brooklyn, Queens, SI, Newark and East Orange.

As of 2019, Sri Lankans were coalescing on Staten Island. Staten Island alone has been estimated as home to more than 5,000 Sri Lankan Americans.

These Asian numbers are useless until official census counts for demographics are released. These are based on ACS which we know was way way off Official census counts thus unreliable.
