I didn't realize how far along that pavilion has come! I really need to get down there, it's been too long.

So in another 30 years, they can turn green again? I think not.

The Statue of Liberty is copper. Like an old penny, the facade turned green. So did the roofs of many buildings(Farley Post Office, Grand Central). At the time, I'm sure that Brookfield knew that the roof would eventually turn green and left it how it was. I like them how they are. Most buildings don't show age like other buildings do.

Not sure if it's in the renovation or not, but the roof lights could use some maintenance. Half of them always seem to be out.

New York YIMBY:

Interview: Pelli Clarke Pelli’s Brookfield Place

What’s your favorite feature about the new space — and what are some changes that aren’t visible to the eye, that are nonetheless important?

The expressive basket columns; while performing the tremendous feat of holding up the entire roof and hanging glass curtain wall from two relatively small points, the columns are graceful and ever-changing as one moves through the space, and as light moves from day to night. The diagonally weaving network of structural piping also recalls the trunks of the Winter Garden palm trees, an unintentional but seemingly fitting connection of new and existing.

Will the washrooms remain under the stairs, or will they be relocated to allow space for retail?

EDIT: Never mind, the answer is now quite obvious.

More than likely they're replacing it with a glass clad bridge that's lighter than its predecessor and conforms to the rest of the site's glass/granite scheme.

Certain things need upkeep. For example: if the Statue of Liberty and the roofs of these buildings had been kept to original scheme, they would not have turned green. Upkeep of course would cost a pretty penny.

The South bridge is getting its final segment onto Liberty Park.

I dont see any activity on bridge work, but Liberty Park looks almost
done, except for the new church.
The Financial Center sidewalks/bike lanes open any day now.......

As far as I know, they're currently replacing the damaged metal panels of Liberty Bridge, as the extension and interior fit-out have been completed.
