Am I just seeing things, or has anyone else noticed a dim purple-ish light coming from the crown of this building?

I can see it. It's flashing like two tones of purple.

Philly is rapidly becoming a City of Light.

Shhhhh...I was taking a "study break". Finals time is rough man!

Related to my first post, the crown now was lit up red and green when I passed it on the Media/Elwyn Line a few minutes ago. I have some shit-quality pics I may upload once I get home

I'm loving every minute of it! I just wish that the chevrons on One and Two Liberty could join the brightness party

They may be shamed into doing just that--especially once the lighting of CTC and the W come online.

The crown is lit up tonight, and the installation of the raised table intersection has begun.

I didn't realize this one would have LEDs. Really happy with how this building has turned out.

As for Philly being a city of lights: almost every major building in our skyline has some sort of lighting going on at the top. CC has its entire atrium lit up, LP1/2 have their chevrons, Three Logan has colored lights up at about 500ft and above, the Pyramid (I forget its actual name atm) building has the Pyramid, Cira Centre South has its neons, Cira Centre has its neons, and CTC will have its beacon when it is completed.

Those lights are nice, interested to see how quickly they'll move. They also give some rationale for why the signage is so low.

I was thinking the same thing. As the initial Complainer-in-Chief about the lower signage, I'll gladly take it to allow the interesting lighting--especially given the continuous and cohesive effect to which it contributes along the Schuylkill at night along with One Riverside, FMC, Cira Center, the old post office building, 30th St. Station, and perhaps (hopefully) the new ARA headquarters (and more to follow).

Signage height

Heard chatter in the GradHo neighborhood group that the signage height was adjusted per the wishers of the donor whose name appears in said signage. That is to say, CHOP agreed to hang the signs directly in front of actively used floors, blocking their workers' views and light, to appease this person who would remain nameless except, oh wait, the name's on the building. If true, it is the first instance I'd ever heard of such a thing.

Why didn't they put it in the dark portion of the crown?

Perhaps it won't remain dark? We've only recently begun to see any crown lighting, so it's very possible that there's more to come. Which would be even better. Although looking back at the latest daytime photo of that facade, that doesn't look very likely.

Remember the anxiety and concern as we saw the initial FMC lighting go only halfway up the tower?

I'm still anxious about what appears to be a missed band in the upper portion. My wife laughs at me about it because I mention it every time we drive by.

I was editing my post as you were posting your response, to add this: "Although looking back at the latest daytime photo of that facade, that doesn't look very likely." And my wife long ago grew weary of my commenting on the progress of the new towers every time we drove into or past Center City.

signage

if a building is going to have 'built-in' ext. lighting, and if the owners are going to sell their souls and allow personal or corporate names hung on the buildings, at least they could do is make an attempt at integrating the signage into the lighting.
FMC isn't too bad as a corporate tag, but the egotism with this latest Roberts building is over the top, and for me it really takes away from the form and lines of the building. It adds nothing except words.

The family has donated hundreds of millions of dollars philanthropically to causes of all kinds including this children's hospital research building. If the dude wants to put his name on it in toilet paper and Spray paint he's earned the right.

I'd lighten up.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing when I re-read it.
