New York’s Skinniest Skyscraper Launches Sales—Prices Start at $18M

Sales at the under-construction super-skinny skyscraper on West 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan—otherwise known as Billionaires’ Row—officially launched on Thursday.
Composed of the original landmarked Steinway Hall and its new "integrated" companion, a terra-cotta and bronze-clad 1,428-foot-tall tower designed by SHoP Architects, 111 West 57th Street will be home to 46 full-floor and duplex residences.
"It’s a 21st century version of a historic building," said Gregg Pasquarelli, co-founder of SHoP Architects, at a press preview event on Thursday, held nearby on Fifth Avenue.
Prices within the tower will start at $18 million and rise to more than $57 million, with sizes ranging from 3,873 to 7,128 square feet, according to a news release.
The Landmark Residences Penthouse, located in the original Steinway Hall building, is available for $20.5 million and will come complete with approximately 3,800-square-feet of private terraces.
The homes are designed by Studio Sofield and will feature 14-foot-high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, formal entrance galleries, patterned solid oak floors and onyx master bathrooms with custom sconces, and bronze fixtures.
Future residents will also have access to a private porte cochère entrance on 58th Street, a lap pool with private cabanas, a spa with treatment rooms and a private dining room and chef’s catering kitchen.
After delays last year tied to legal disputes, work on the 82-story tower recently surpassed the 73rd floor mark and the topping out is expected in January 2019. The staggered tower tapers as it ascends, almost disappearing as it gets to the top, Mr. Pasquarelli said.
The Landmark Residences will begin closings in 2019, while Tower Residences are anticipated to begin closing in early 2020, the same year that the project is slated for completion.
