I think 3 are approved. 2 are being built and a third one is about 90% or so bought and will most likely start construction soon.

but I'm not sure.

I'm guessing the tallest isn't approved.

The timeline for this project to finish is in 2009. I'm not to worried about anything not getting approved. I think the developers are very happy with their current progress and this entire project looks like it's right on schedule. With all the infrastructure costs involved it would be foolish not build all 5 towers.

This is going to be something to see coming down I-95 and across the BenFranklin Bridge.

They're all approved but each building isn't built until the majority of units in each building are sold. I'd like to know the move-in date they are telling those who are buying into building #3. It has to be at least a year and a half.

giovanni, look at the first 2 photos at the beginning of this thread. The parking structure encompasses the whole central plaza and looks like it is 2 floors. The parking area under the tallest tower is at least 4 floors. For 5 towers there are going to be a load of cars when it is fully occupied.

How far are these from Center City? Will they add to or extend the skyline, or are they kind of separate from it?

They're quite distant from the main core of downtown. They're on the Delaware River waterfront, about a mile from all the highrises. They'll be more or less an island unto themselves.

I tried to find a location where I could photograph the site from Camden that would show the Philly skyline in the background, but it is very difficult to find such a location in North Camden without possibly feeling uneasy about the safety for my life.

The site is located where the red star on this map is. Center City is located where it says Philadelphia on the map. It is not far, but it is not part of the core skyline in Center City. It will still make a very interesting presence in the city as the waterfront continues to grow.

The proposal to put the World Trade Center of Philadelphia about a block south of Waterfront Square would help to create a mini-skyline along the river but that project is more or less dead. I don't know why they haven't put up the 44 storey apartment building portion of the project. I know there is no market for the office tower portion of the project.

Are you sure it's dead? I thought there was some movement on the site..

I shouldn't say it is dead. The WTC of Phila. isn't in a hurry to build. It's offices are now in Camden and when the market allows it will build it in phases. Since none of it seems to be going up they can redesign the whole thing. It was a boring and dull design.

have you seen some movement on the site josef?

Could be nothing, but I got it from this comment about bulldozers on the block (where the wtc would be):

Could be preliminary something, or could be nothing, who knows. I do think they eventually plan on building this though.

They was talk about starting the apartment tower last summer but nothing materialized. That's odd since there is such a residential building boom in the city. But since the St. James was going up at the time they probably thought their tower would lead to a glut of high-end apartments. Maybe they should make it a condo building since the St. James is an apartment building.

I like this project, and it seems to be moving right along. I just wish it was higher. I believe that area is zoned for up to 50 story buildings.

forget apartments there...they should make it a hotel. If it's gonna be a WTC...don't you think it would make sense to put a hotel there?

AAAND redesigning the damn project would be nice too.

From what I have seen of it, it wouldn't look TOO bad if it was in with the rest of the skyline, but for being all by itself, yeah, it looks pretty bad. Nothing that really makes it stand out except it's size.

Actually, I think I could tolerate it better by itself than if it was with the rest of the skyline. I still hate it, but if they put that crap on like the CC plot or something, it'd be horrid.

I wonder what it would look like on the schyulkill waterfront, like near mandeville.
