I think they just mean to disallow electric scooters on the Beltline(or to enforce it), rather than banning them completely. The companies already don’t want them used on the Beltline or in parks, although I think it just has to do with making them easy to retrieve for the people charging them.

One of the Reddit posters said it best - that is the most Atlanta thing ever.

The beltline OK’ed the escooters and electric assist bikes on the beltline. So did city council. There are pictures posted by the beltline on the beltline that include scooters and says “the beltline is for everyone”

Why not just ban anything with wheels then? Goodbye bicycles, strollers, skateboards and roller blades. That way no one is moving too fast.

Legally you can't. The BeltLine was funded as a multi-use trail. If bikes can't use it, the City and ABI would likely be required to repay off the Federal funds granted.

Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. Announces Acquisition of Key Westside Property

https://beltline.org/2019/02/14/atla...side-property/

This is fantastic news!!! After recently purchasing the Kudzu line (purple), they have now purchased the blue dotted line making a connector trail possible to existing PATH trails at Centennial Park.

Westside is about to be incredibly bike friendly once they build this out, kudzu, WST, Proctor Creek Phase 2, Reservoir Park, and potentially connect the comet. I've been hoping they would purchase this property and have been hoping there were more old rail corridors that could mirror this throughout the city. The more direct bike routes to downtown (in addition to the BeltLine encircling the city) the more bike/ped friendly Atlanta will be in the long run. It's a huge win for the city.

and I read something about the Trust for Public Land 'visioning' on the concept of better 'connecting' the city to the river and enhancing the river edge. what an opportunity!

I am eager for the grocery to open up, will be interesting to see how much more lively the area becomes as a critical function for the surrounding neighborhoods. Exciting times for Atlanta

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see the balance between Trader Joe & Kroger bags people are carrying.

Since this little siding was built for the Ford Factory, wouldn't it be cool to have a sculpture of a Model-T there? They built a lot of them in that building.

A new trail project is planned that will connect downtown’s Centennial Olympic Park to the Atlanta Beltline, near the future Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry.

The PATH Foundation, Atlanta BeltLine Inc. and city of Atlanta are partnering on the roughly three-mile trail, including a new three-fourth-mile spur of the Beltline. The trail will begin at Centennial Olympic Park, run north over Ivan Allen Boulevard and along a former rail line to Marietta Boulevard at Huff Road.

The project would be a next step in the PATH Foundation’s longtime goal to ultimately connect the Silver Comet Trail to downtown. The Silver Comet spans more than 90 miles from Anniston, Ala., to Smyrna, Ga. It would take about another 10 miles to connect it to downtown.

McBrayer said there is an aggressive timeline to open the trail – about three years.

“We are planning on starting the first phase on Aug. 15,” he said. That would begin work at Northside Drive and Ivan Allen Boulevard.

The trail will include lighting and security cameras. The majority of the project will have 14-foot trails, just like the Beltline.

Is the map you provided the buildout areas? I was thinking it was the actual buildout of the Kudzu purchase. I'm not aware what would occur on Joseph E. Boone?
