Thanks for the construction updates, everyone!

I hadn't seen this rendering before:

Reminds me of the Tower Verre in NYC, the framework is so different than anything else in this country. This will be fun to see rise

Definitely! Knowing all of us though, we're going to become impatient as the foundation work drags on. It wasn't that long ago that we first saw both 181 and Salesforce pop above ground before their rapid assents. The fun times take forever to arrive and then go fast.

There's two cameras (use the left/right arrows (which are hidden until you hover with the mouse pointer) at the top of the picture to toggle):

Those appear to be the piles that hold the retaining timbers for the foundation perimeter. Once they are all in place, real excavation should begin.

See these piles--the hole should go a bit less deep than they are long (because they go into the ground a bit).

I don't see how this shouldn't be officially U/C. They could be digging for 1-2 years and it still won't be considered UC even though it really is UC

It's because they haven't begun foundation work--we've seen this many times and the rules haven't changed. If they start drilling caissons, as was done with 181 and Salesforce, we'll be UC very soon. There are other SF threads with clearing and excavation that are also not UC yet; 500 Folsom Street is a good example of that.

^^They appear to be driving piles but those piles appear only about 100 ft long, less than half the distance to bedrock only a block away (at both Salesforce and 181 Fremont). I wish we had someone to really explain what's happening to us. At both those other buildings the supportive piles weren't driven but cast in place--that is, they drill a hole, insert some pre-formed rebar framework and pour concrete into the hole. I thought they'd do that here too.

This is just work to build the soil support wall for the eventual hole. Nothing is structural yet.
