I agree with you. I think this development cycle is taking several different neighborhoods in the city to another level in terms of urbanity, walkability, and livability.

That's is not a huge footprint. It would be nice to have something with a little little bit of height in that location.

Big Cheshire Bridge Proposal could Wipe Out 18 Houses

http://atlanta.curbed.com/archives/2...ire-bridge.php

Quote:
A major new townhome development is in the works off Cheshire Bridge Road that has the potential to significantly alter a neighborhood south of Interstate 85. The proposal by Pulte Homes is in early review stages, but if the plan successfully moves past the zoning board, it would replace 18 single-family homes with an 89-unit development. For those keeping score at home, that's a whole bunch of townhomes.

60 11th Street

This is a slightly different and I think better version of the street level at 60 11th Street.

Alta Midtown rendering

Based on the renderings, its looks like they have 1 or 2 more floors before the tower will be topped out.

I still don't get why they had to put a curb cut and deck entrance on the "main street" - West Peachtree. There don't appear to be any active uses on 8th beneath the tower portion at all which could have handled multiple entrances/exits from the deck.

8th has a steep grade. West Peachtree and Peachtree Place are the only streets the first level can be accessed from.

Peachtree Place has a curbcut as well on first level.

You're right. I just wish they would have found a way to make it work especially considering how large the deck is. Still, I'm very glad to see this fill that block. It's already such a dramatic difference from this time last year.

I wish they could have built some residential on top of the garage facing Peachtree Pl and West Peachtree. Even if it were only a few floors. It just seems so unbalanced.

Isn't that a curb cut on 8th as well? Near the middle of the highrise portion, just after the 4th tree on 8th street. It might only be for loading/trash, but it's still a curb cut.
I think this thing has curb cuts on at least 3 of the 4 sides.

Loudermilk Cos. plans latest Buckhead Village project

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/r...d-village.html

Quote:
The Loudermilk Cos. is continuing the Buckhead Village development boom.

The Atlanta developer plans to break ground, most likely by March, on 371 East Paces Ferry, a 5-story medical office building. Loudermilk Cos., led by developer Robin Loudermilk, is also planning to start another office building on an adjacent site, an 80,000-square-foot project known as 359 East Paces Ferry.

Here is a rendering of both 371 East Pace Ferry and 359 East Paces Ferry proposals.

There is a deck entrance/exit on 8th. It looks like West Peachtree will be exit only but that could still be dicey for pedestrians during rush hour.

Thanks for all of the updates, Smartallone!

I'm not too worried about the exit-only W.Peachtree curbcut. Since it's a residential building I think the traffic will be more spread-out, and you won't necessarily get a situation where there's a line of exiting cars blocking the sidewalk. I am still puzzled why they allowed it though.

I don't think anything could have been done to prevent it since it was part of the property that was purchased. It was an entrance to the parking lot. I'm no lawyer but taking that away feels like a zoning downgrade which could be considered a property siezure. I'm curious whether that would be legal... I'm guessing not.
